Liverpool have reportedly held advanced talks over a move to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong.

The Reds are set to bid farewell to academy product Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has announced that he will leave when his contract expires this summer.

He is widely expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer, with the only uncertainty surrounding his availability for the Club World Cup.

Alexander-Arnold's departure could give his current deputy, Conor Bradley, the chance to make the right-back spot his own.

Manchester City have reportedly earmarked AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders as a serious summer target.

The 26-year-old could be joining the Citizens, who supposedly need to offload three first-team stars in order to facilitate a switch for the Milan man.

Man City have endured a difficult top-flight campaign so far and are not guaranteed Champions League football during 2025-26 as the term draws to a close.

Speaking of draws, the Citizens were forced to share the honours at Southampton on Saturday afternoon, when the hosts did not manage a shot on target.

"On the market": Leading right-back replacements for Alexander-Arnold assessed

Jeremie Frimpong will be on the market this summer

Liverpool will be alerted to the availability of Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong as a potential successor to Trent Alexander-Arnold, though he may not be the club's ideal signing, Reds transfer expert David Lynch has claimed.

The Merseysiders were held to a 2-2 stalemate by Arsenal on Sunday at Anfield, but the game was overshadowed by the negative reception Alexander-Arnold received from fans following his announcement that he will leave.

Liverpool have been linked to several replacements for the defender, with Leverkusen's Frimpong touted as someone of interest to the club.

While Lynch expects Frimpong to be available in the summer, he was of the view that his signing would not make sense given the team already have Bradley on their books, telling Sports Mole: "I saw what David Ornstein wrote, which was that he's going to be on the market. He's going to be fairly cheap. He would jump at the chance to join Liverpool. But that doesn't mean Liverpool are interested at all.

Swansea City forward Jerry Yates has reportedly emerged as a popular transfer target ahead of the summer window.

Despite a respectable 2023-24 at the Welsh outfit, Yates was allowed to go out on loan to Derby County for this campaign.

The 28-year-old ultimately played a key role in keeping the Rams in the Championship, contributing 10 goals and four assists from his 42 appearances.

However, Yates has since returned to his parent club to await developments with his future, and the likelihood is that he will still depart Swansea.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly identified a Dynamo Kiev youngster as a potential summer transfer target.

Despite losing back-to-back games against Manchester City and Brighton & Hove Albion, Wolves fans have been left encouraged by the direction that they are going under Vitor Pereira.

However, the Portuguese faces the prospect of losing at least one key player during the upcoming transfer windows with Matheus Cunha expected to depart in a £62.5m deal.

Rayan Ait-Nouri is another player who may move onto pastures new and Wolves would be expected to replace them with younger players with potential, which has been their business model in the past.

Liverpool attacker Luis Diaz has made his feelings clear on his future at Anfield following reports that the Reds will soon open contract talks with the Colombian.

The ex-Porto man is still on the same terms he penned upon his arrival from Porto midway through the 2021-22 season, and he will be available on a free transfer in just over two years' time.

Diaz's situation has not been a priority up until now, though, as sporting director Richard Hughes understandably focused on getting renewals for Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah over the line.

Now that Van Dijk and Salah have been tied down for another two seasons, and Trent Alexander-Arnold is confirmed to be leaving on a free, Liverpool can switch their attention to players whose deals run out in 2026 and 2027.

Florian Wirtz's future has supposedly taken a fresh twist, as Manchester City are close to striking a verbal agreement with Bayer Leverkusen over a move for the Germany international.

As one of the most highly-rated playmakers on the planet, Wirtz is naturally believed to be at the top of City's shortlist to replace Kevin De Bruyne, who will depart when his deal expires in June.

However, reports over the weekend claimed that Bayern Munich had agreed a deal in principle with the player's camp and were prepared to offer Leverkusen €100m (£84.3m) to get a transfer over the line.

The 2023-24 Bundesliga champions would reportedly be happy to accept that fee from a non-German side, but from a direct rival, they are after a staggering €150m (£126.5m), complicating matters for Bayern.

Suitors of Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Rayan Ait-Nouri have seemingly been handed a boost in the race for his signature.

The left-sided player has developed into one of the best full-backs or wing-backs in the Premier League during his time at Molineux.

During 2024-25 in particular, the Algeria international's return of four goals and seven assists is the best such return of any defender in the division.

However, despite Wolves having been successful in retaining the 23-year-old's services in the past, there is a growing feeling that he will eventually want to take on a new challenge.

Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior is reportedly wanted by at least two Italian clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

Up until recently, the Poland international had been regarded as a backup option in Mikel Arteta's squad and there seemingly being little chance of his status improving in the short term.

However, a season-ending injury to Gabriel Magalhaes opened up the door for Kiwior to feature in the middle of the Gunners backline and he has taken his opportunity with both hands.

Since April 5, Kiwior has made 10 starts for Arsenal in all competitions - completing the 90 minutes on each occasion - to highlight how impressively he has performed.

Napoli chief responds to De Bruyne summer transfer rumours

Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne on April 6, 2025

Napoli director Giovanni Manna has insisted that it would be "absurd" to talk about speculation involving Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

Last month, it was revealed that the Belgium international's decade-long stay at the Etihad Stadium would be coming to a conclusion at the end of his contract in June.

With the veteran hinting that it was the club's decision, rather than his own, not to renew his terms, there has been talk regarding a potential switch to another Premier League team.

Nevertheless, speculation emerged last week which suggested that Napoli had become major players in the race for his signature, helped by De Bruyne and his wife having gotten married in Naples and being admirers of the location.
