Preview: Hibernian vs. Rangers

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Scottish Championship meeting between Hibernian and Rangers.

Hibernian head into Sunday's fixture against Rangers knowing that anything less than a win is likely to hand Hearts the Scottish Championship title.

Alan Stubbs and his side currently sit second to leaders Hearts in the league table, but they are already 20 points behind their rivals, who are almost certain to lift the title and progress into the Premiership.

However, Hibernian can delay the inevitable if they secure a win over Rangers, whose off-field activity has dominated the headlines more than matters on the pitch.

Stuart McCall is the new man in charge after Dave King and his consortium recently took control of the financially-troubled club by receiving 85% of the shareholders' vote.

Unfortunately for McCall, he is yet to taste victory with Rangers as his first two games in charge have resulted in draws, and the team do not have the best record over this weekend's opponents as Hibernian have won their last three meetings.

In the league, Hibernian are on a 13-match unbeaten streak, and have only dropped points in three of those games, while Rangers have not won a league game since their 2-1 triumph over Raith Rovers on February 20.

Despite failing to pick up maximum points lately, Rangers are unbeaten in their last six games in the Championship, but their playoff place is far from secure with Queen of the South and Falkirk not far behind.

With regards to team news, the home side have no fresh injury concerns, which suggests that goalscorers Fraser Fyvie and Jason Cummings will start on Sunday.

Rangers are without Seb Faure, Haris Vuckic, Remi Street and Gael Bigirimana, but Kris Boyd is expected to lead the line.
