Portsmouth 0-0 Leeds United

A tight affair at Fratton Park ends in a 0-0 draw between Portmouth and Leeds United.

Portsmouth and Leeds United played out a 0-0 draw in an evenly-contested match at Fratoon Park this afternoon.

Leeds' Andy Lonergan was the first goalkeeper called into action, saving one header and pushing another strike over the top as Portsmouth piled on early pressure.

Neil Warnock was forced into an early defensive re-shuffle after Alex Bruce picked up a knock and had to be replaced by Leigh Bromby on 11 minutes.

Leeds' first attempt on goal came on 15 minutes when Robert Snodgrass had a freekick deflected wide for a corner. From the set piece, Darren O'Dea hit a low shot into the side netting.

Jason Pearce then missed a great chance from a corner, the Pompey captain spurning a free header from close range.

Just before half time, Aidan White's shot was saved by Portsmouth's Stephen Henderson, who turned the ball around the post.

Leeds had the ball in the net early in the second half after Ross McCormack's shot hit the underside of the ball before being helped in by Luciano Becchio. However, the goal was ruled out by the referee for offside.

On 59 minutes, Becchio beat the offside trap to collect a pass from Adam Clayton, but Henderson denied the striker in a one-on-one.

Leeds sustained the pressure on the home side with Henderson again making a save, this time from Bromby's effort.

George Thorne then saw his well-hit strike saved by Lonergan on 67 minutes as Pompey tried to attack.

In the 85th minute, Pompey thought they should have had a goal allowed after a Greg Halford throw appeared to go straight into the net without touching another player.

The tight affair ended 0-0, with both teams deserving their point.
