Liverpool take Sam Magri on trial

Liverpool have taken young Portsmouth defender Sam Magri on trial.

The 17-year-old had recently been tipped with securing a place in the Pompey starting lineup, but it now appears that he could be nearing a move to the North-West.

Magri will travel to Merseyside on Monday and will spend a week with the club.

Magri confirmed the news on Twitter, saying: "Just to put everything to bed. Its true in what everyone is saying involving me."

He was part of the England squad that competed in last summer's under-17 World Cup.
