Half-Time Report: Joao Moutinho fires AS Monaco in front at the break

Joao Moutinho's goal gives AS Monaco a 1-0 lead against Marseille at Stade Velodrome.

Joao Moutinho's goal has given AS Monaco a 1-0 lead against Marseille at Stade Velodrome this evening.

The hosts made a disastrous start, and it was Moutinho who gave Monaco the lead inside the first minute when he drilled a shot into the corner from around 20 yards out.

Andre-Pierre Gignac came close to making it 1-1, but his header drifted just wide before he saw a shot well held by Danijel Subasic in the Monaco goal.

Anthony Martial could have made it 2-0 when he ghosted into the box untracked, but keeper Steve Mandanda did well to thwart the chance.

The proved to be the last of the openings in the first half as Monaco took a slender advantage into the break.
