Fourteen-man Gloucester beat London Irish

Gloucester beat London Irish 35-13 in the Aviva Premiership despite Matt Kvesic being sent off in the first half.

Gloucester Rugby have secured a 35-13 win over London Irish in the Aviva Premiership this afternoon, despite playing more than half of the match a man short.

The home side were reduced to 14 men midway through the first half as Matt Kvesic was red carded for a dangerous tackle on Tomas O'Leary, who went off injured as a result.

The Exiles quickly made their numerical advantage count, with Alex Lewington scoring the opening try of the match just a few minutes later, but Jonny May put Gloucester in front before the break.

Greig Laidlaw kept the points coming from the boot, scoring his third penalty of the day just a couple of minutes after the restart and adding three more soon after.

Dan Leo was sent to the sin bin with just over 10 minutes remaining, allowing Daniel Thomas and Henry Purdy to seal the victory with a couple of late tries for the hosts.

The result leaves Gloucester ninth in the standings, six points clear of London Irish.
