Manchester City reportedly discover the asking price of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes ahead of the summer transfer window.

Manchester City have reportedly discovered the asking price of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old has established himself as an integral first-team player for Eddie Howe's side since joining the Magpies from Lyon for a reported £40m in January 2022.

Guimaraes has contributed with 13 goals and 13 assists in 97 appearances for Newcastle across all competitions, chipping in with three goals and seven assists in 40 outings so far this season.

The Brazil international is adored by the St James' Park faithful and he still has over four years remaining on his Newcastle contract, but he has been strongly linked with a possible big-money exit this summer.

Newcastle CEO Darren Eales admitted earlier this year that the club may be required to sell some of their star players if they wish to avoid breaching the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules and generate funds for new signings, and Guimaraes is one name that has been tipped to depart as a result.

Pep Guardiola plotting summer swoop for "exceptional" Bruno Guimaraes?

Recent reports have suggested that Man City are exploring a summer move for Guimaraes, who was described as an "exceptional holding midfielder" by Pep Guardiola earlier this month.

According to TEAMtalk, Guardiola has made Guimaraes his primary midfield target ahead of the 2024-25 campaign and there is growing belief that the Citizens will win the race for his signature.

Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with an interest in the Brazilian, who is valued in excess of €100m (£85.5m) by Newcastle, according to Fichajes.

The report adds that, despite their financial concerns, Newcastle have 'adopted a no-sale stance' regarding Guimaraes, but that could change if they receive a 'record' offer in the summer.

Bruno Guimaraes planning long-term Premier League stay?

Last month, Guimaraes insisted that he is "very happy" at Newcastle, but he has since hinted that a future move could be on the cards, one that may see him join another Premier League club.

"It's always been my dream to play [in the Premier League]," Guimaraes told Brazilian media during the international break. "I've always followed the Premier League. It was always my dream to be here.

"I think, ever since I joined Newcastle, everything has been good in my life professionally and personally. I'm very happy to be playing amongst the best in the best league in the world.

"I absolutely plan to play here for a long time. I have other goals as well of moving, but this is something more down the line. I'm really happy to be here in the league."

Guimaraes is not the only Newcastle star who addressed his future over the international break, as striker Alexander Isak has responded to reports over a possible summer switch to Arsenal.
