Barcelona 'set Sergi Roberto asking price'

Barcelona are reportedly holding out for a €60m (£51.4m) fee for versatile defender Sergi Roberto amid the uncertainty surrounding his Camp Nou future.

Barcelona have reportedly slapped a €60m (£51.4m) price tag on the head of versatile defender Sergi Roberto.

The 29-year-old has struggled to make his mark under new manager Ronald Koeman due to injuries this season, and he has only made eight appearances in La Liga during the 2020-21 campaign, registering one goal and two assists.

Furthermore, the arrival of Sergino Dest means that Roberto's game time would have been restricted even if he was fully fit, and with his contract up in the summer of 2022, the right-back's future is currently up in the air.

According to Mundo Deportivo, new president Joan Laporta is prioritising Lionel Messi's contract situation first and foremost, while the deals of Ilaix Moriba, Oscar Mingueza and Ousmane Dembele will also take precedence over Roberto's.

The report adds that it will be up to Koeman whether Barca keep the Spain international at Camp Nou for the 2021-22 campaign, but despite his uncertain contract situation, the Catalan giants will not entertain any offers lower than €60m (£51.4m).

Roberto is best known for his crucial last-minute goal in Barcelona's 6-1 Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, but he will not get the opportunity to repeat his heroics on Wednesday night due to his latest muscular problem.
