Amorim to be given '£200m war chest', with nine exits touted from Old Trafford

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to give Ruben Amorim a transfer budget of £200m if he sanctions the exits of numerous players from the club.

The United boss inherited a troubled team from previous boss Erik ten Hag in November, but the current manager has failed to turn his side's fortunes around, with the Red Devils 13th in the league.

Amorim's only two signings since arriving at Old Trafford have been centre-back Ayden Heaven and left wing-back Patrick Dorgu, but having lost nine and drawn five of his 20 top-flight games in charge, it is clear that he will need new signings to improve results.

However, co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has implemented a series of unpopular cost-cutting measures in response to the club's poor financial health, and that could lead to a policy of sell-to-buy in the summer.

Liverpool have reportedly decided to give Conor Bradley the chance to claim Trent Alexander-Arnold's starting spot on the right side of defence.

The Reds will take on West Ham United on Sunday at Anfield in the Premier League, with the Merseysiders needing just three more victories in their last seven games to guarantee the title.

Boss Arne Slot and supporters were boosted on Friday with news that talisman Mohamed Salah signed a new contract, while captain Virgil van Dijk is also expected to extend his stay at the club.

However, vice-captain Alexander-Arnold is widely thought to have decided to leave for free in the summer upon the expiry of his contract, and that has given Slot a selection dilemma at right-back.

Manchester United are reportedly braced for competition from Chelsea for Angers goalkeeper Yahia Fofana in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils will play Newcastle United on Sunday in the Premier League, and shot-stopper Andre Onana will be hoping to retain his place between the posts.

United drew 2-2 with Lyon in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash on Thursday, with Onana arguably at fault for both of the French side's goals.

Boss Ruben Amorim is reportedly considering dropping the 29-year-old from his starting lineup on Sunday amidst speculation that the Portuguese manager could look to replace him in the summer.

De Bruyne delivers update on next club search, refuses to rule out joining PL team

Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne on April 6, 2025

Kevin De Bruyne has refused to rule out joining another Premier League team after he leaves Manchester City at the end of the season.

The soon-to-be 34-year-old announced last week that he will bring the curtain down on his glittering 10-year career at the Etihad Stadium when his contract expires in the summer.

De Bruyne delivered a man-of-the-match performance to inspire Man City to an impressive comeback from 2-0 down to overwhelm Crystal Palace by a 5-2 scoreline at the Etihad on Saturday lunchtime.

A trademark first half free kick from the Belgian playmaker sparked the Citizens' revival, and he was also involved in Omar Marmoush's leveller before setting up Mateo Kovacic less than two minutes after the restart to fire City ahead.

Manchester United have reportedly been in touch with Brighton & Hove Albion to discuss a possible move for Dutch goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen during this summer's transfer window.

Verbruggen, 22, has been with Brighton since 2023, making the move from Anderlecht, and he has represented the Seagulls on 60 occasions in all competitions, including 50 outings in the Premier League.

The Netherlands international has again been a strong performer for Brighton this season, making 33 appearances in all competitions, and he is regarded as one of the best young stoppers in European football.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Man United have been in contact with Brighton to ask for information on the goalkeeper, with the Red Devils said to be giving serious consideration to signing a new number one.

Spurs' loss could become Arsenal's loss as 'concrete transfer interest' emerges

Serie A powerhouses Napoli have reportedly developed a 'concrete interest' in Arsenal's Jakub Kiwior as they consider alternatives to Tottenham Hotspur's Radu Dragusin.

Kiwior has had to play second fiddle to Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba since joining Arsenal from Spezia midway through the 2022-23 season, and he has often come under fire for shaky displays at the back when given a chance.

However, the Poland international recently enjoyed the finest week of his Gunners career, starting alongside Saliba in defence against Real Madrid and helping Arsenal keep a clean sheet in an astonishing 3-0 Champions League win.

Kiwior was also praised for his display in last weekend's 1-1 Premier League draw with Everton, and the 25-year-old has likely cemented a starting role for the rest of the season while Gabriel recovers from a hamstring injury.

"I'm sure" - Postecoglou provides update on Son contract situation

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has provided an update on Son Heung-min's contract situation ahead of the expiry of his current deal in 2026.

The Lilywhites recently exercised their option to extend Son's terms by a further 12 months, prior to which their captain could have left on a free transfer at the end of the current season.

Postecoglou explained that the club wanted to ensure that their captain did not leave without winning a trophy, having been starved of silverware since joining from Bayer Leverkusen almost a full decade ago.

Son could potentially lead Tottenham to Europa League glory next month, but the North London club are fighting an uphill battle to progress past Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals following a 1-1 draw in the first leg at home on Thursday.

Man City man could snub Barcelona for old club as 'preferred destination' emerges

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva is supposedly prepared to take a pay cut to return to one of his former clubs during the summer transfer window.

While Kevin De Bruyne's confirmed exit at the end of the season has dominated the transfer headlines at the Etihad Stadium recently, Silva's future is also the subject of much uncertainty.

The Portugal international is only under contract with the Premier League champions until the end of next season, meaning that a summer sale should be City's last chance to recoup a reasonable fee.

Silva has remained a regular in Pep Guardiola's side with 41 appearances in all tournaments this season, including 23 starts in the Premier League, but he has only come up with three goals and four assists in that time.

Two no's could make a yes as Chelsea 'renew interest' in Sancho successor

Chelsea's Jadon Sancho on April 3, 2025

Chelsea have reportedly not ruled out rekindling their interest in on-loan Tottenham Hotspur attacker Mathys Tel if they decide against signing Jadon Sancho permanently.

The Blues extended an olive branch to Manchester United-owned Sancho last summer and also agreed an obligation to buy the England international for around £25m at the end of the season.

However, there is believed to be a loophole in the terms of Sancho's contract that could see Chelsea refuse to honour the obligation and instead send the winger back to Old Trafford while paying a small penalty fee of around £5m.

That scenario is now considered increasingly likely as a result of Sancho's recent struggles, as the 25-year-old has failed to score or provide an assist in any of his last 11 Premier League appearances.

Real Madrid's 'discreet contacts' may lead to ultimate Arsenal transfer revenge

Real Madrid's transfer plan for William Saliba has supposedly been revealed, and Los Blancos have not given up hope of signing the Arsenal man as a free agent in two years' time.

The France international was part of a Gunners side that tore Real Madrid to shreds in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night, as Mikel Arteta's men crushed the European champions 3-0.

Saliba and co will head to the Bernabeu next Wednesday with the intention of finishing the job, whereas Carlo Ancelotti's side will be bidding to emulate Barcelona's famous remontada against Paris Saint-Germain from 2017.

The second leg in Madrid could potentially act as Saliba's Bernabeu audition, as the 24-year-old has long been linked with a marquee move to Real Madrid as Ancelotti aims to freshen up his defence.

Man Utd could lose again as 'asking price' for misfiring Hojlund 'revealed'

© Imago

Manchester United have reportedly named their asking price for misfiring striker Rasmus Hojlund amid claims that he could be set to make a swift return to Serie A.

The 22-year-old has thus far failed to live up to expectations at Old Trafford and has endured a particularly rough 2024-25 season with just eight goals and four assists in 42 games in all tournaments.

The bulk of Hojlund's contributions have come in the Europa League, but he was ineffective in Thursday's 2-2 quarter-final first-leg draw with Lyon and was substituted just after the hour mark.

While Hojlund has had a direct hand in eight goals in 11 games in Europe's secondary tournament - five of his own and three assists - he has netted a paltry three goals in the Premier League, including just one in his last 16 games.

"Two strikers": What the Gunners need to do to close Premier League gap to Reds

Arsenal may need to sign two strikers to win the Premier League title
© Imago

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour exclusively told Sports Mole that the Gunners could need up to two strikers in order to win the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta will lead his side out at the Emirates against Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday, but his side are 11 points behind league-leaders Liverpool.

The Reds have scored 72 goals in the top flight this season - the best return of any team - and have found the back of the net 16 more times than the Gunners have managed so far.

Speaking to Sports Mole, Parlour argued that the Londoners may need to look to sign two strikers to close the gap to Liverpool next season, saying: "[Mikel Merino] has come in, and he's a midfielder more, but he got his goal [against Real Madrid]. He seems to be knocking the goals in a little bit like Havertz did when he went up front.
