Steven Gerrard is confident that Wayne Rooney can make an impact if he is selected to play against Ukraine for England tomorrow.

England and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard believes that Wayne Rooney will be a vital addition to the Three Lions' team when they take on Ukraine tomorrow.

Roy Hodgson heads into England's final Group D game with a dilemma over who to start up front now that Manchester United frontman Rooney is available to play following a two-match ban.

Danny Welbeck and Andy Carroll proved to be a successful partnership during the Three Lions' 3-2 win over Sweden, with both forwards netting goals in the clash.

While the former West Bromwich Albion coach has insisted that he is unsure over who he will pick, Gerrard believes that "world class" Rooney can make an impact.

"Everyone knows what Wayne Rooney is all about," said Gerrard. "Certainly he makes us a lot more threatening going forward and he's world class player. I know him very well land and I can see in his eyes that he's itching to do well and hopefuly he can play well and make the difference."

England need one point to progress to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
