Rooney: 'England like club team'

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney believes that the spirit of the England players off the field makes the group seem like a club team.

In previous years, the England camp had received some criticism for its reported divisions. However Rooney, who has finished serving his two-match suspension, says that the Three Lions squad feels like a club team under Roy Hodgson's management.

"It feels more like a club team now, rather than an international team," said Rooney.

"Everyone gets on with each other and there's a lot of trust between the players and the coaching staff, and everyone's happy.

"You only have to go to the hotel to see the lads. You've got [Manchester] City players playing snooker with United players, Chelsea players playing Liverpool. Everyone's mixing, everyone's getting on well and there's a good chemistry between the lads.

"At the minute, it's certainly the most comfortable I think the team have been off the pitch since I've been in the squad."

Rooney is available for England's final Group D match against Ukraine having missed out on the France and Sweden matches due to suspension.
