Real Madrid injury, suspension news vs. Pachuca: Will Kylian Mbappe be available for Intercontinental Cup final?

Ancelotti facing Mbappe decision: Real Madrid injury news vs. Pachuca

Real Madrid will be bidding to add more silverware to their sensational trophy cabinet when they take on Mexican outfit Pachuca in the final of the Intercontinental Cup on Tuesday.

Los Blancos will enter the match off the back of a 3-3 draw with Rayo Vallecano in Spain's top flight, with the result leaving Carlo Ancelotti's side second in the La Liga table, one point behind the leaders Barcelona.

Pachuca are the Spanish team's opponents in the showpiece event, as the Mexican outfit beat Al Ahly 6-5 on penalties following a goalless draw in the Challenger Cup on Saturday.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of the final of the 2024 Intercontinental Cup.

Kylian Mbappe

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Thigh Possible return date: December 18 (vs. Pachuca)

Mbappe scored against Atalanta BC in the Champions League last week before being forced off the field in the 36th minute of the contest; he missed out against Rayo in La Liga on Saturday, but the Frenchman will travel to Qatar for this match, and there is a chance that he could play a role in Wednesday's final.

Dani Carvajal

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Real Madrid will be without the services of Carvajal for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign due to the severe knee injury that the right-back suffered in the clash with Villarreal on October 5.

David Alaba

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: January 9 (vs. Mallorca)

Alaba suffered an ACL injury last December, which has required two operations to fix; the defender has made progress in his recovery, though, and he is expected to be back on the field at the start of 2025.

Eder Militao

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Real Madrid will be without the services of Militao for the remainder of the campaign, as the Brazilian centre-back damaged his ACL during the clash with Osasuna before the international break.

Ferland Mendy

Status: Out Type of injury: Muscle Possible return date: January 3 (vs. Valencia)

Mendy suffered a muscular problem during the clash with Girona, and the France international is not expected to be back on the field until the early stages of January.
