Arjen Robben: Chelsea were better when I was there

Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben believes that Chelsea's change in style of play has made them less attractive to watch.

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has taken a swipe at Chelsea's defensive style of play, claiming that the Blues were more attractive to watch when he was at the club.

The Dutch international left Stamford Bridge for Real Madrid in 2007 after three years at the London club.

"They have changed the system a bit since and often play without wingers," said Robben. "But when I was there we were nice to watch and, with two wingers, played attacking football.

"Maybe tactically they are a bit more defensive these days. They can still play football, but it's not always the most technical football like you see at Manchester United or Arsenal."

Robben will come face to face with his former club for the first time since leaving the Premier League outfit in the Champions League final at Bayern's home ground of the Allianz Arena tomorrow.
