Carlo Ancelotti plays down Barcelona loss ahead of Copa del Rey final

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti plays down the significance of Barcelona heading into Wednesday's Copa del Rey final on the back of a defeat.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has played down the significance of Barcelona heading into Wednesday's Copa del Rey final on the back of a defeat.

The Catalan giants slumped to a shock 1-0 loss to Granada on Saturday, while Ancelotti's Blancos thrashed Almeria 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, the Italian believes that the contrasting results in the build-up to the showpiece at the Mestalla will have no bearing on who lifts the cup this week.

He told Marca: "It was a surprise Barca lost because they have more quality than Granada but at this time of the season all teams are fighting for their goals and those fighting for safety are the most dangerous.

"Barca's defeat doesn't change the game on Wednesday. It doesn't change the dynamics."

Wednesday's Clasico is scheduled to kick off at 8.30pm.
