Xavi: 'Raheem Sterling, Ross Barkley could play for Barcelona'

Barcelona midfielder Xavi believes that Raheem Sterling and Ross Barkley are good enough to play for the Spanish giants.

Barcelona midfielder Xavi has expressed his belief that English youngsters Raheem Sterling and Ross Barkley are good enough to play for the Spanish giants.

Liverpool winger Sterling and Everton's Barkley are widely regarded as England's two brightest prospects at the moment, with speculation already linking them with big-money moves abroad.

Xavi insists that both players are gifted both physically and technically, and sees no reason why they would not succeed at the Camp Nou.

"Yes, why not? I think that they could," he told Squawka.

"They have incredible physical capabilities and they are good technically. In Spain, we prioritise players who are technically gifted but both things are very important in football."

Xavi has been at Barcelona for 23 years, having joined as a youth player in 1991.
