Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has extended his loan spell with Atletico Madrid by another 12 months.
The Belgian joined the Blues last summer but was immediately loaned out to Atletico, who were searching for a new goalkeeper following the departure of David de Gea to Manchester United.
Atletico asked Chelsea to keep the 20-year-old for another year last week and the Premier League side have now confirmed that they have sanctioned the move.
"Chelsea FC can confirm that Thibaut Courtois's loan deal with Atletico Madrid has been extended for a further 12 months," read a statement on the club's official website.
"The young goalkeeper impressed during his time with the Spanish club last season, making 52 appearances and ending the season with a Europa League winner's medal, playing the full 90 minutes as Atletico beat Athletic Bilbao 3-0 in the final."
Courtois helped Atletico finish fifth in La Liga last season.
