Half-Time Report: Liam Feeney double puts Bolton Wanderers ahead

Two goals from Liam Feeney give Bolton Wanderers a 2-0 half-time lead against Cardiff City in the Championship.

Bolton Wanderers have gone into half time of their fixture with Cardiff City in full control after a double from Liam Feeney gave them a 2-0 advantage.

After a competitive start to the match at the Macron Stadium, Craig Davies scuffed a shot wide for the hosts but it wasn't long before Neil Lennon's side were celebrating taking the lead.

Feeney, who had been recalled to the team by Lennon, was found by Lee Chung-yong's cross to convert his first goal for Bolton at the 19th attempt.

Bolton continued to dominate the action against a team who were coming off the back of three wins from four games, but the Bluebirds finally showed some intent when Peter Whittingham saw an effort deflected over the crossbar.

The Trotters resumed on the front foot shortly after the midway point of the half and would have doubled their lead if Matt Mills's header hadn't been cleared off the line by Craig Noone.

Federico Macheda almost found an equaliser for the Welsh outfit when seeing his close-range attempt saved by Andy Lonergan, and the Italian was made to pay as Feeney netted his second of the match.

The 27-year-old did well to collect Darren Pratley's cross before volleying the ball past David Marshall in the Cardiff goal to give his side a commanding half-time lead.
