Paul Jewell: 'Wigan Athletic can cause Arsenal upset'

Former Wigan Athletic boss Paul Jewell believes that his old club can cause an upset against Arsenal in this weekend's FA Cup semi-final.

Former Wigan Athletic boss Paul Jewell has claimed that his old club can beat Arsenal in this weekend's FA Cup semi-final.

The Latics, who stunned Manchester City in the last round, face the Gunners at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Despite Wigan being underdogs heading into the tie, Jewell is confident that they can cause another upset and reach the final for the second consecutive year.

"You can't predict Wigan," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "Arsenal have had a few struggles since Liverpool beat them terribly and I watched the game on Sunday at Everton - they were very well beaten.

"I look at the way Wigan have played this season and they're aggressive in their style of play, their movement is good and I think they have a chance."

The two teams last played in May 2013 when a 4-1 win for Arsenal saw Wigan relegated from the Premier League.
