Live Commentary: Wimbledon day three - as it happened

Sports Mole brings you live updates from day three of the Wimbledon Championships in London.

Good morning and welcome to Sports Mole's live commentary from the third day of the 126th Wimbledon Championships.

Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, Juan Martin Del Potro and Jo Wilfried-Tsonga all secured their spot in the second round on Tuesday – and they are joined by opening day victors Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

Brit Elena Baltacha also secured her spot in the next round, along with former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova and the resurgent Serena Williams.

Today, Mr Federer and Djokovic are in action, along with the women's favourite Maria Sharapova, Caroline Wozniacki and former world number one Kim Clijsters.

Note that play gets underway at 11.30am.

22.00As the crowd files out of Centre Court into the balmy London night, it's time to say goodbye and thank you for your company. It's been another thrilling day at SW19 following impressive wins for Heather Watson and Tamira Paszek. Meanwhile, Jamie Baker was ousted by Andy Roddick and Roger Federer saw off Fabio Fognini. We hope that you can join us again tomorrow as Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka are all in action at the All-England Club. Goddnight.

21.57Djokovic: "It was much more difficult than the scoreline showed. It was a really enjoyable match. I'm just honoured to be in a position to be playing on the most recognised court in the sport.

"I'm very pleased with my performance. I think I've played really well. It was a close match but I got the crucial breaks in each set."

21.55Djokovic will now face either Benjamin Becker or Radek Stepanek in the third round. Their match was called off earlier die to bad light and should be concluded tomorrow.

21.53Harrison can't keep the Djokovic serve in and the defending champion is through. The American put up a real fight and is sure to make plenty of waves on the tour, but he couldn't keep up with his opponent.

21.52RESULT: Djokovic 6-4 6-4 6-4 Harrison

21.52Sure enough it's match point again after Harrison hits long.

21.51Oh my! The world number one fluffs a simple volley and we're at deuce.

21.50But Djokovic moves to match point with a brutal forehand.

21.50Harrison is going down fighting! A backhand winner makes it 30-30.

21.48A deft volley at the net gives Djokovic the first point.

21.47Djokovic breaks to love! Some poor serving from Harrison proved very costly indeed and Djokovic seals the break with a cheeky scoop at the net. The defending champions will now serve for the match.

21.45A line judge just got a Harrison first serve in the shoulder. He's smiling about it.

21.44A gallant display from Harrison ends with Djokovic holding. It's 4-4, Harrison to serve.

21.41Time is ticking but not a single person is leaving Centre Court.

21.40Wonderful again from Harrison! An ace gives him advantage before he takes the game with a rocket of a backhand down the line. Djokovic was falling all over the place trying to get to that.

21.39Possibly a chance wasted for Harrison now thanks to a wide forehand. We're at deuce.

21.37Wow! An incredible rally which sees both men wrestle for dominance ends with Harrison sweeping a clean winner down the line. 30-0.

21.35Despite a smart forehand from Harrison to make it 40-15, Djokovic quickly holds again.

21.32We finally have a rally and it's Djokovic who wins it as Harrison hits long following a powerful forehand. However, Djokovic is wayward on the next point so Harrison holds to lead 3-2.

21.29Djokovic's fifth love service game, his third in a row, makes it 2-2 in the third.

21.28Some brilliant jousting at the net ends with Djokovic putting away the volley to take the first point of his service game.

21.27Some slinky movement of the hips allows Harrison to dodge Djokovic's wayward forehand and hold serve. The 20-year-old American is giving as good as he's got on his Centre Court debut.

21.24Djokovic rifles through his service game to level things up. Not a rally to be seen there.

21.22A stinging serve gives Harrison the opening game.

21.20Harrison gets us underway in the third...

21.20And we have a Mexican wave on Centre Court. Lovely stuff.

21.18What is telling in that last set was Harrison's inability to take any of his six break points. Djokovic had one and snapped it up without a second thought.

21.17SET! Djokovic 6-4 6-4 Harrison

21.16That means we're just left with this one between Djokovic and Harrison as the Serbian forces the mistake from his opponent to take a two-sets lead.

21.15The final match to be called off this evening is Nadia Petrova's encounter with Timea Babos. It's 5-5 in the second after Petrova took the opening set 6-4. Play will resume tomorrow with that one.

21.13Harrison doesn't seem particularly daunted out there as some lovely work at the net sees him hold. Djokovic is looking focused and will now serve for the set.

21.12RESULT: Bemelmans 3-6 4-6 4-6 Gasquet

21.11Some ruthless stuff there from Djokovic as he holds to love. Harrison will now serve to stay in this second set.

21.10UPDATE: The other matches this evening are slowly being called off now. Alejandro Falla and Nicolas Mahut's match has been suspended with Falla leading by two sets to one. Benjamin Becker and Radek Stepanek have also been called off with the Czech one set to the good.

21.07It's Djokovic who takes control in this second now thanks to a break of serve. The Serbian leads 4-3 in the second.

21.04We'll quickly dart under the Centre Court roof now as Novak Djokovic takes on Ryan Harrison. The defending champion took the first set 6-4 and it's with serve at 3-3 in the second.

21.03That's it for Court One. The decision has been taken to abandon play for the evening die to bad light. Play will resume between the pair tomorrow with Sharapova 3-1 ahead in the second havinf taken the first.

21.02It goes to deuce, but Sharapova eventually breaks as Pironkova finds the net to lead 3-1.

21.00And now Sharapova has a break point.

20.59Pironkova hits a winner down the line to go 30-15 ahead. This is game, possibly our last of the evening, is vital for the Bulgarian.

20.56The Russian holds to lead 2-1. It's surely a matter of minutes before play is halted.

20.54Sharapova whacks the ball out as Pironkova holds. The world number one is not happy out there right now. In fact, she's has a face like thunder. Wonderful thunder.

20.52Word is we'll have two more games as Sharapova holds serve to lead 1-0.

20.50At the start of this second set between Sharapova and Pironkova, both players spoke to the court official about the light. The Russian doesn't look too happy with the situation at the moment.

20.50To update, it's with serve in the second set between Djokovic and Harrison. The Serbian took the first 6-4.

20.49RESULT: Russell 6-7 6-2 4-6 5-7 Benneteau

20.48How about that for a shock? World number 11 Li Na is knocked out in straight sets by world number 51 Sorana Cirstea. What a scalp for the 22-year-old Romanian.

20.46RESULT: Youzhny 6-1 6-3 6-4 Cervantes-Huegun

20.46Not the most convincing set of tennis from the world number one, but she takes the tie-break 7-3.

20.45SET! Sharapova 7-6 Pironkova

20.44RESULT: Na 3-6 4-6 Cirstea

20.43RESULT: Almagro 6-2 5-7 6-2 6-4 Rufin

20.42Pironkova goes long again as Sharapova leads 5-1. The Bulgarian is falling apart here.

20.41A wonderful forehand down the line makes it 4-1 to Sharapova.

20.39The Russian switches it up a gear here as she races into a 3-0 lead. Pironkova is looking nervous now.

20.39We're into the tie-break in this one and Pironkova squanders the first point to give Sharapova the initiative.

20.38SET! Falla 6-4 6-3 4-6 Mahut

20.36RESULT: Janowicz 2-6 6-4 3-6 7-6 9-7 Gulbis

20.35...but Sharapova has saved them!

20.34Some poor play from Sharapova gives Pironkova three set points...

20.33SET! Petrova 6-4 Babos

20.33SET! Bemelmans 3-6 4-6 Gasquet

20.31Pironkova holds to lead 6-5 as Sharapova hits wide again. The Russian will now serve to stay in this first set.

20.30It takes defending champion Novak Djokovic just 34 minutes to claim the opening set against Ryan Harrison.

20.29SET! Djokovic 6-4 Harrison

20.28Too good from Sharapova, who smashes home to hold serve. Her (unbearable) squeal of delight says it all.

20.26Which she squanders with an overhit backhand.

20.25The Bulgarian has the chance for a break point!

20.24Wonderful from Pironkova to force deuce on the Sharapova serve. Can she seize the initiative once more?

20.22Novak Djokovic has found a break of serve in his match with Ryan Harrison to lead 4-3 in the first.

20.19And Sharapova takes it emphatically thanks to a sensational backhand that tears right across the court. We're at 5-5 in what has been a thunderous opening set.

20.19How costly could that be? Pironkova hits a tentative backhand into the net to give Sharapova a break points

20.18SET! Becker 2-6 Stepanek

20.16Sharapova digs in to hold, but Pironkova will now serve for the first set. A big few minutes ahead.

20.15But the world number one saves it with a fizzing forehand into the corner that the Bulgarian can't cope with.

20.14Sharapova goes long and Pironkova has a set point.

20.13SET! Almagro 6-2 5-7 6-2 Rufin

20.13The Russian is looking frustrated out there as a double fault makes it 15-30.

20.11To update, it's on serve at 2-2 in the first set between Djokovic and Harrison.

20.09The Bulgarian edges closer to the first set as the grunting Sharapova hits the net. Both players are showing some incredible power out there and it's Pironkova who is having the best of it.

20.07Pironkova lauches a beautiful backhand winner down the line to go 30-15 ahead.

20.06SET! Youzhny 6-1 6-3 Cervantes-Huegun

20.05SET! Russell 6-7 6-2 4-6 Benneteau

20.04Sharapova grinds through to hold and cut the deficit to 2-4 in the first.

20.02Unlucky for Pironkova as a powerful rally is cut short with a drop shot that doesn't quite make it.

20.00Pironkova still holding firm as she holds to lead 4-1.

19.59SET! Bemelmans 3-6 Gasquet

19.59Novak Djokovic has just got things going against Ryan Harrison, while Nadia Petrova is off the mark in her match with Timea Babos. It's non-stop at SW19.

19.57RESULT: Zvonareva 6-1 3-6 6-1 Soler-Espinosa

19.56Sharapova finally gets off the mark with a hold of serve. Pironkova leads 3-1.

19.56Meanwhile, Radek Stepanek has got his match started against Benjamin Becker...

19.54SET! Falla 6-4 6-3 Mahut

19.53The Bulgarian whacks the ball past Sharapova to hold serve and take a 3-0 lead in the first. She's looking very confident here, totally unfazed at facing the top player in the world.

19.52RESULT: Troicki 6-4 4-6 5-7 7-6 6-4 Klizan

19.51Pironkova is looking for her first victory over the world number one here. She's lost the previous three meetings.

19.50The Bulgarian forces Sharapova into the error and finds an early break to lead 2-0! This wasn't in the script.

19.48SET! Na 3-6 Cirstea

19.47Pironkova gets the contest underway with a hold of serve.

19.45RESULT: Andreev 3-6 6-7 6-4 2-6 Istomin

19.44Meanwhile, Women's world number one Maria Sharapova has just started against Tsvetana Pironkova.

19.43Right, up next we'll be looking at defending champion Novak Djokovic's match with Ryan Harrison on Centre Court.

19.41Clijsters: "I'm very happy with way I played today. I was very pleased. I really kept my focus. This court made me come back to professional tennis."

19.39RESULT: Dominguez Lino 1-6 2-6 Kirilenko

19.39I said it could have been over quickly. The Belgian eases to victory in what is her final appearance at the Wimbledon Championships. She will face either Vera Zvonareva or Silvia Soler-Espinosa in the next round.

19.37RESULT: Clijsters 6-3 6-3 Hlavackova

19.36The Belgian moves onto match point...

19.34Clijsters holds so Hlavackova will serve to stay in the match. This one could be over quickly.

19.33SET! Zvonareva 6-2 3-6 Soler-Espinosa

19.31Ruben Bemelmans's encounter with Richard Gasquet has just started, while we will now be turning out attention to Kim Clijsters's contest with Andrea Hlavackova on Centre Court. The Belgian, having taken the first set, currently has a break and leads 4-3 in the second.

19.28Roddick: "He came out and played very well; I wasn't comfortable out there."

19.28Some kind word for Baker from Roddick at the net there as the American battle past the Brit to reach the second round. Roddick's experience ultimately shone through, but Baker can be very proud indeed of his dogged display. Roddick will now play Bjorn Phau in the next round.

19.26RESULT: Baker 6-7 4-6 5-7 Roddick

19.24SET! Russell 6-7 6-2 Benneteau

19.23Oh no! Bakers tries a similar drop shot to earlier but it hits the net. Roddick has the vital break and will serve for the match. Such a shame for Baker. It was a gutsy shot to play and it didn't quite work out.

19.22Roddick turns up the pressure to give himself the opportunity of a break...

19.20SET! Falla 6-4 Mahut

19.18That said, the relentless Roddick digs in to save the game. It's 5-5 in the third on Court One.

19.17Baker looked down and out in this game but he brings it back to deuce with a casual drop shot that totally bamboozles Roddick.

19.14SET! Andreev 3-6 6-7 6-4 Istomin

19.12Amazing from Baker! Roddick leaps around the court to try and salvage the points, but the American eventually hits long. Baker saved three break points there to make it 4-4 in the third. The Brit screams with delight and so he should.

19.10SET! Troicki 6-4 4-6 5-7 7-6 Klizan

19.09Remarkable stuff from Baker as he saves all three break points to take it to deuce.

19.09RESULT: Tatishvili 3-6 1-6 Giorgi

19.08RESULT: Sweeting 7-5 5-7 4-6 2-6 Tipsarevic

19.07Roddick roars as he has three break points. This looks ominous...

19.07Li Na's match with Sorana Cirstea has just started...

19.06 SET! Janowicz 2-6 6-4 3-6 Gulbis

19.05SET! Almagro 6-2 Rufin

19.05SET! Hlavackova 3-6 Clijsters

19.01SET! Dominguez Lino 1-6 Kirilenko

19.01Some confident stuff there from Baker as he holds to make it 4-3.

19.00Guillaume Rufin's match with Nicolas Almagro is now underway, while Alejandro Falla has just started with Nicolas Mahut.

18.58Roddick holds after a lengthy rally is ended with a long backhand from Baker. He looks angry with himself after that. It's 3-3 in the third.

18.56The answer is an emphatic no. Roddick serves hard before hitting a forehand into the empty corner of the court. Nothing the Brit could do about that.

18.55Meanwhile, Baker gets another break point against Roddick. Can he take this one?

18.55Mikhail Youzhny has just got underway against Inigo Cervantes-Huegun...

18.54RESULT: Yakimova 4-6 6-3 6-3 Minella

18.53SET! Russell 6-7 Benneteau

18.50Superb again from Baker as he holds serve with an unstoppable forehand. He's still hanging in there to lead 3-2 in the third. If he pulls a set back here, who knows?

18.48Beautiful from Baker. He carves a backhand down the line to lead 30-15.

18.46SET! Zvonareva 6-1 Soler-Espinosa

18.46Those look to be wasted chances for Baker. The Brit has two break points but can't capitalise. Instead, Roddick hits an ace and it's 2-2.

18.44SET! Andreev 3-6 6-7 Istomin

18.43SET! Tatishvili 3-6 Giorgi

18.41RESULT: Peng 7-6 6-3 Morita

18.40Back to Baker and Roddick and it's on serve. Baker leads 2-1.

18.40...which shouldn't worry the Brit too much as his record is 3-0 against Karlovic.

18.39Significantly, Ivo Karlovic's win over Dudi Sela means that the giant Croatian will take on Andy Murray in the second round.

18.37RESULT Su-Wei Hsieh 6-4 6-1 Foretz

18.36RESULT: Karlovic 6-4 6-4 7-6 Sela

18.35SET! Sweeting 7-5 5-7 4-6 Tipsarevic

18.34Also, Lourdes Dominguez Lino has started her match with Maria Kirilenko.

18.33Kim Clisters, who is appearing at her final Wimbledon Championships, has just opened proceedings against Andrea Hlavackova.

18.32Also, Andrev and Istomin are back underway while Vera Zvonareva has started her match against the wonderfully-named Silvia Soler-Espinosa.

18.31SET! Janowicz 2-6 6-4 Gulbis

18.30SET! Baker 6-7 4-6 Roddick The experienced American fires a trademark ace down court to tighten his grip on this match. Baker has battled hard, but it looks like this might be too big a mountain to climb now.

18.29Some wonderful baseline work from Baker, but he hits long to give Roddick two set points.

18.26All of the matches are now back underway apart from Igor Andreev's clash with Denis Istomin.

18.25Moving swiftly on, we'll now turn our attention to Jamie Baker's encounter with Andy Roddick. The Brit is a set and a break down as the American steps up to serve for the second.

18.23That's a pretty dominant display from third seed Agnieska Radwanska. The Pole will now face Britain's Heather Watson in the next round.

18.23RESULT: Radwanska 6-2 6-1 Vesnina

18.21Paszek: "Caroline is an amazing competitor, so I knew it was going to be tough, I'm so happy to be through to the next round."

18.19To update, we're back underway on the majority of the outside courts.

18.18Wonderful from Paszek as the Eastbourne champion books her place in the second round. She dug deep for that final rally and forced the error from Wozniacki. Having saved two match points, the Austrian came back strong. Meanwhile, Wozniacki will be bitterly disappointed with how events transpired under the roof of Centre Court.

18.17RESULT: Wozniacki 7-5 6-7 4-6 Paszek

18.16Wozniacki loses her challenge and Paszek is on match point. Her first of the contest.

18.13But she makes up for it with a forehand winner that whips past her opponent!

18.12Sloppy from Paszek as a huge rally is spoiled with a long forehand. 15-15.

18.11UPDATE: Jamie Baker's match with Andy Roddick is now back underway on Court One, with the Brit a set and a break down to the former finalist. Can he get himself back into it?

18.10And she takes the first one of asking as Paszek hits long. Paszek leads 5-4 in the third with Wozniacki to serve.

18.09As if things couldn'get get more unpredictable, Wozniacki has two break points thanks to a powerful backhand.

18.06And Paszek takes it with a stinging forehand down the line! That was wonderful. The Austrian will now serve for the match.

18.04That could be costly slip from Wozniacki as Paszek moves onto break point...

18.03Delightful from Paszek as a perfectly-weighted drop shot makes it 30-15 on the Wozniacki serve.

18.02Thank you, Matt. This match has had some twists and turns, hasn't it?

18.00Paszek holds! Right, that's me for today. I shall hand you over to the ever-impressive Jack Prescott for the remainder of the evening. Thanks for joining me!

17.58And there's the hold. We sit at 3-3 in the third and final set.

17.56It seems as if she will. The Dane leads 40-0.

17.56Wozniacki to serve. Can she hold? It is crucial.

17.54Finally we have a hold of serve! Paszek moves 3-2 ahead. Brilliant match in progress here.

17.52Paszek breaks! Neither player seems to want to win this one! We are tied at one-set-all and 2-2 in the third.

17.50Update: The covers are off on the outside courts. Hopefully not long until play resumes!

17.48Wow. That's some shot from Paszek as she loves 0-30 ahead. Just when you think Wozniacki will run away with it - Paszek comes up with some great tennis.

17.46More from Davenport: "It's a great start by Wozniacki and exactly what she needed to do to re-establish herself and get some confidence back and try to build a big lead in the third set."

17.44Important hold for Paszek as she moves 1-2 behind Wozniacki. However, she remains a break behind.

17.44Suddenly it's all going Wozniacki's way as she holds serve to move 2-0 ahead in the third and final set.

17.42Fantastic news. Play on the outside courts should resume shortly.

17.40The covers are coming off!

17.40Wozniacki breaks! Big moment early in the third as the Dane moves 1-0 ahead.

17.38Just as I say that - she double faults! My bad!

17.38It's Paszek who continues to play the more aggressive tennis early in the third. The Austrian has performed really well thus far.

17.36New balls are in play as we start the final set.

17.34SET! Paszek claims it 7-4 on a tie-break to take this one into a third.

17.34Wozniacki fires long! Paszek has two set points.

17.32However, it's superb from Paszek as she moves 5-4 ahead.

17.32Brilliant top-spin serve from Wozniacki as she levels it at 4-4 in the tie-break.

17.30Paszek levels it at 3-3 with a volley at the net - and moves 4-3 ahead as Wozniacki fires long.

17.28Wozniacki produces a powerful serve to level it up at 2-2. Meanwhile, she moves 3-2 ahead as Paszek hits the net.

17.26Paszek restores her advantage with a fine passing shot. 2-1.

17.26However, it's too much power from the Austrian as Wozniacki levels it at 1-1.

17.26Suddenly it's all Paszek as she moves 1-0 ahead with a brilliant forehand.

17.24Wozniacki fires long! This one will enter a tie-break in the second set.

17.22Brilliant! Just brilliant from Paszek as she says no and levels this one at deuce.

17.20Couple of match points for Wozniacki as Paszek fires long. However, the first is saved by a brilliant forehand.

17.18Weather update: The rain is still falling. Although, we are promised a dry spell later this evening. Have hope!

17.16It's a quick hold for Wozniacki to open up a 6-5 lead. Meanwhile, still no other tennis at the moment!

17.14More from Davenport: "All of a sudden Wozniacki is retreating again with her court position and that is allowing Paszek to hit these winners."

17.12The Austrian holds! She is right back in this one as she levels it at 5-5 in the second.

17.11Scrap that. Advantage Paszek.

17.10Both exchance advantage points, but we are back to deuce in a flash.

17.10Paszek fires long! Deuce!

17.08Paszek closes the door with two fine points of her own. The Austrian leads 40-30.

17.06However, two points for Wozniacki moves her into a 15-30 lead. Just the two points required for the Dane.

17.04Perfect start for Paszek as she moves into a 15-0 lead on serve.

17.02Brilliant service game from Wozniacki as she serves her way into a 5-4 lead. Just the singular game required for the Dane.

17.00It was a game that Paszek really shouldn't have held - but she does. We sit at 4-4.

16.58Wozniacki fires wide once more to leave us at deuce.

16.58... Wozniacki slices the first out of play. However, she has another.

16.56Meanwhile, Paszek hits the net to hand Wozniacki two break points...

16.54Some good news? This evening looks to be dry. So hopefully there is plenty of tennis left on day three!

16.52Holding serve seems to be catching on. Wozniacki moves 4-3 ahead in the second. Meanwhile, no play on any of the other courts is expected until at least 5.30pm.

16.50Paszek holds for the first time since the middle of the opening set. We sit at 3-3 in the second.

16.48Paszek breaks straight back against Wozniacki to keep this one on serve in the second. Any danger of a hold of serve on Centre Court?

16.46According to the BBC, some matches are being chopped for the day due to the weather. Although it is just doubles at risk at the moment.

16.44Still no tennis on any of the other courts - rain go away!

16.44She's got it! Wozniacki breaks to lead 3-1 in the second set.

16.42Again it's wonderful from both players. However, Paszek hits the net to hand Wozniacki another break point.

16.40In terms of quality, it's as good a women's tennis match I have seen in recent months.

16.38Really is a fantastic tennis match between these two as Wozniacki comes to the net to move advantage ahead.

16.36Wozniacki glares at the screen as Paszek's ball drops in. Deuce.

16.34However, Paszek fires wide to hand Wozniacki the chance to break back immediately.

16.32More from Davenport: "Wozniacki looks a different player, now she is moving her feet, cutting the angles off and taking balls earlier. That's what you need to do on grass."

16.32So important that the Austrian holds her serve here - and she leads 15-0 as Wozniacki fires wide.

16.30And she's got it. Paszek breaks back to trail 1-2 in the second set.

16.28It's really good hitting from both players as Paszek secures two break points of her own. Brilliant stuff.

16.26... and she takes it! Wozniacki leads 2-0 in the second. That's her fifth straight game.

16.24Brilliant from Wozniacki as she sets up break point...

16.22A word from former world number one Lindsay Davenport: "Since play resumed we have seen just why Caroline Wozniacki was world number one: incredible attitude, incredible foot speed and a world-class backhand. Those three things have carried her to the top. She just needs to add a couple more dimensions to get back there," she told the BBC.

16.20Strong hold for Wozniacki at the start of the second. This is the biggest game of the match for Paszek - she must hold here.

16.18Still no play on any of the other courts as we enter the second set on Centre.

16.16What a huge moment in this match. Paszek sits back on her chair with the look of 'what has just happened?'

16.14SET! Paszek fires long to hand Wozniacki the opening set 7-5.

16.12... and she saves that one too to level it at 5-6 deuce.

16.12Paszek staves off the first of Wozniacki's two set points with a wonderful passing shot, but the Dane has another...

16.10Paszek hits the net! The Austrian just cannot keep her composure as she strikes the net from close range. 0-30.

16.08Wozniacki holds. Now the pressure is on Paszek to take this one into a tie-break in the first set. Meanwhile, the rain is still falling!

16.06Suddenly it's a different Wozniacki on court as she continues to strike the ball cleaner. Has Paszek missed her chance?

16.06... she's got it! Wozniacki breaks to level this one at 5-5 in the first set.

16.04Paszek fires wide! Break point Wozniacki...

16.02For those just joining us, this is the only match currently in progress due to the bad weather!

16.01Again Wozniacki survives as Paszek hits the net. Who will blink first on Centre?

16.00However, a brilliant forehand from the Dane levels it at deuce.

15.59Thank you Liam. As you join me, Paszek has a set point against Wozniacki.

15.57And that is as far as I go. Sorry for the lack of action - blame the weather, not me! Handing back to Mr Law, who will talk you through Wozniacki's match on Centre.

15.55It's go, go, go between Wozniacki and Paszek on Centre Court. The latter is serving for the opening set at 5-4.

15.50Back to today, Wozniacki and Paszek are returning to Centre Court, which now has the roof closed. It's still raining at SW19.

15.44It's actually strange to think that he only won Wimbledon once, back in 1992.

15.43The BBC is currently screening an interview with Andre Agassi. What a player he was!

15.40And some more rain delay reading for you: Our report of Federer's comfortable win.

15.38Not forgetting Roger Federer's performance earlier today. The 'Fed Express' was on top form against Italy's Fabio Fognini. Can he win Wimbledon for a seventh time this year? Got to confess I hope he does.

15.35Talking of Watson, here is our match report of her victory.

15.34What did we all think to Heather Watson earlier? The 20-year-old Brit looked very good against Jamie Lee Hampton. She is now in the third round. How far can she go?

15.33According to Sue Barker on the BBC, play will start in around 20-30 minutes time. So I'm afraid until that point you will have to put up with my waffling!

15.29Having said that, the brollies around Centre Court have been furled. Is that a good sign? Let's hope so.

15.24Still no sign of play at the moment. The covers are still on I'm afraid.

15.21One person that will be most annoyed at the rain stoppage is Ivo Karlovic. The Croatian is just one set away from wrapping up the victory against Dudi Sela.

15.16Good ol' Cliff!

15.15Okay Cliff isn't there, but that doesn't stop us from reminiscing does it?!

15.13Make that all courts. The covers are on. Is Cliff Richard around?

15.13Wozniacki's match against Paszek has been suspended on Centre.

15.10Play is still continuing, but I doubt it will be for much longer if this shower continues.

15.09On no! Here comes the rain!

13.58RESULT: Raonic 6-4 6-4 6-4 Giraldo

13.58Sweeting has claimed the opening set against Tipsarevic. Some turn up there!

13.58Meanwhile, Raonic's match with Giraldo has resumed. The former needs just a singular game to win.

13.34SET! Federer takes the opening set 6-1 in wonderful fashion. A word? Wow.

13.34Cetsovska has taken her match into a third set against Stephens.

13.34Meanwhile, here's a word from Watson who overcame Hampton earlier: "I'm just so pleased to get through the match. It was definitely not easy. People might say it was a good draw but Jamie is a great player and she made it hard for me, she wasn't giving me anything. I knew I had to play my best. All I was saying to myself was don't double fault (having double faulted on her first match point). You have to go for it on those other points because the other girls aren't going to give it to you. The crowd were amazing, I was glad to win, not only for me but for them too," she told the BBC.

13.32Break! Federer moves 5-1 ahead in the first with another break of the Fognini serve. The Swiss will serve for the set.

13.30Fognini just cannot get into this match. It's as good as I have seen Federer play in the past two years. Is he a contender? You better believe it.

13.28It's unusually tight in almost all of the women's matches currently in play - with just two results in from the 11.30am starts.

13.26Federer holds serve to move 4-1 ahead in the second. The Swiss's forehand has been in fine form thus far.

13.24Klizan has broken Troicki at 3-3 to take a 4-3 lead in the opening set. Meanwhile, Fognini gets on the board to move 3-1 behind Federer.

13.02Meanwhile, Martinez Sanchez has levelled it at one-set-all with Ivanovic. Lisicki has also followed suit against Jovanovski.

13.02Terrific from Watson as she claims her spot in the third round for the first time. How far can she go?

13.00RESULT: Watson 6-1 6-4 Hampton

13.00But takes the second!

13.00... she passes up the first with a double fault.

13.00Two match points for Watson...

12.58Meanwhile, Bondarenko has claimed the second set against Date-Krumm. We have a few ladies matches seemingly heading for three.

12.56Hampton then recovers to hold. However, Watson will now serve for a place in the next round.

12.54... but the American levels it at 40-40 once more with a fine passing shot.

12.54Hampton slips at deuce to hand Watson match point...

12.52Staying with the men - and Chardy has levelled it at one-set-all against Monaco.

12.46Another set to report as Stephens claims the opener 7-6 against Cetvovska.

12.45Meanwhile, Petzchner has moved a break ahead of Mayer in the second set.

12.44Three more break points for Hampton. Incredible.

12.42She does indeed break to lead 4-3 in the second. Meanwhile, Zakopalova will serve for the match against Cibulkova.

12.40Two more break points for Watson. What is all this fuss about serve being an advantage!

12.38Both men's matches remain on serve in the second. Meanwhile, Hampton has broken straight back against Watson. It seems that neither wants to hold their serve!

12.38Staying with the women and Cetvovska vs. Stephens has entered a tie-break in the first set.

12.36Another set to report in the women's round of fixtures with Govortsova taking it 6-3 against Beck. Meanwhile, Watson breaks straight back to lead 3-2!

12.34Meanwhile, Zakopalova looks well on her way against Cibulkova. The Czech leads one-set-to-nil and 3-0 in the second.

12.32And she takes it. Hampton breaks back to level this one at 2-2 in the second.

12.32Date-Krumm has claimed the opener 7-5 against Bondarenko. Meanwhile, Hampton has two break points on the Watson serve.

12.30Just a couple of errors are starting to come into Watson's game as she hits her second double fault. Important service game for the Brit here.

12.28Another set to report as Ivanovic claims the opener 6-3 against Martinez Sanchez. Meanwhile, Hampton holds serve to move 2-1 behind Watson in the second.

12.26Meanwhile, Mayer is up an early break in the second against Petzschner. You just get the feeling that one is heading for five, even this early.

12.24Watson holds her opening service game of the second set to lead 2-0. How does Hampton come back from this? Court Two is just starting to fill up nicely!

12.22Suddenly it is all happening. Jovanovski has claimed the opener 6-3 against Lisicki. Meanwhile, Govortsova leads Beck 5-2.

12.22Zakopalova has indeed claimed the opening set 6-4 against Cibulkova. Meanwhile, Date-Krumm will serve for the opener against Bondarenko.

12.20And she takes it! Watson leads 1-0 on serve in the second. Do we finally have a British woman here to stay?

12.18Let's go back to the women's draw. Zakopalova will serve for the opening set against Cibulkova. Meanwhile, Watson has a third break point against Hampton.

12.16Remember, we have a certain Mr Federer in action against Fognini a little later. That one will get underway on Centre at about 1pm.

12.14Really tight match between Ivanovic and Martinez Sanchez with the pair tied at 3-3 in the first.

12.12Meanwhile, Monaco has claimed the opening set 6-2 against Chardy.

12.12SET! Watson takes the opening set 6-1 against Hampton. What a start from the Brit.

12.10First set of day three goes to Petzschner as he claims it 6-3 against Mayer. Meanwhile, Monaco will serve for the opening set against Chardy.

12.10Stephens leads Cetvovska 4-2 in the opening set. Meanwhile, Date-Krumm is a singular point away from claiming the opening set against Bondarenko.

12.08Hampton gets off the mark in the opening set to cut the score to 5-1. However, Watson now has the chance to serve for the opening set. Let's go out and about again.

12.06Watson continues to race away with the first set as she moves 5-0 ahead after just 20 minutes of play.

12.04Meanwhile, switching to the men. Petzschner remains a break up on Mayer and Monaco remains a break ahead of Chardy.

12.02Ivanovic is also up an early break against Martinez Sanchez. Serving seems to have become less important in the women's game.

12.00Meanwhile, Date-Krumm leads Bondarenko 4-1 and Stephens leads Cetvovska 3-1.

11.58This time Watson does break to lead 4-0 in the first set after just 15 minutes. Really impressive start.

11.56Ever so close for Watson as she strikes a forehand down the line, but it moves just wide. Hampton staves off two break points.

11.54There is usually a women's match each day that goes by in a flash - and it looks like it could be Watson who is involved.

11.52Meanwhile, Petzschner is not hanging around against Mayer. The German leads 3-0 and advantage in the first set.

11.50Make that 3-0 as she holds serve. Impressive from Watson thus far.

11.50Break Watson! The Brit leads 2-0 after securing an impressive break.

11.48Monaco is also up an early break against Chardy. Meanwhile, a host of early breaks in the women's side of the draw - no change there then!

11.46Meanwhile, Watson has held her serve in the opening game of the first against Hampton.

11.44Petzschner has made a fine start against his fellow German Mayer. He leads 2-0 in the first.

11.42Chardy vs. Monaco is also underway. As is Watson vs. Hampton. Day three has truly begun now.

11.40Here we go. Cibulkova vs. Zakopalova is also underway on the women's side of the draw. Along with Date-Krumm vs. Bondarenko.

11.38What is the hold up? Come on. Let's get the rest of these games underway!

11.36Right, here we go then. The first match of day three is underway with Florian Mayer taking on Phillip Petzschner.

11.34This is also former women's world number one Kim Clijsters's final Wimbledon campaign. Can the veteran exit the game in the best possible way?

11.32Meanwhile, Milos Raonic is just one game away from claiming victory against Santiago Giraldo. I really like the look of the Canadian - and he could go far this year.

11.30There are just two men's matches due for an 11.30am start. Meanwhile, seven on the women's side of the draw.

11.28Will we have any shocks on day two? It doesn't happen too often in the early stages to be honest. Let's wait and see!

11.26Weather update: We have hazy sunshine at the moment. However, some steady rain is predicted for around 3pm this afternoon.

11.24There are a host of matches taking place today. However, I will be keeping you up-to-date with ALL of the action. Wish me luck!

11.22Just a reminder, all courts start at 11.30am except for Centre and Court One which will get underway at 1pm.

11.20You can find out what time your favourite players will be on court by checking out our order of play for day three.

11.18In the best of the rest, Janko Tipsarevic faces Ryan Sweeting on Court Two. Meanwhile, the supremely gifted Richard Gasquet follows against Ruben Bemelmans.

11.16Maria Sharapova is also in action on Court One as she clashes with the Bulgarian Tvetana Pironlova.

11.14Djokovic is last up on centre as he takes on the impressive American Ryan Harrison. Talking of Americans, Andy Roddick will complete his match against Jamie Baker on Court One.

11.12Right, let's focus on today's action. As mentioned, Federer will open up Centre Court against Fabio Fognini. Caroline Wozniaki and Tamira Paszek will then complete their match from yesterday - before Clijsters takes on Andrea Hlavackova.

11.10As mentioned, 2011 women's champion Kvitova also went through on Tuesday. She was joined by second seed Victoria Azarenka and Serena Williams.

11.08However, turn that frown upside down. We have another Brit in action today with Heather Watson opening up Court Two against Jamie Lee Hampton.

11.06Our very own James Ward - the world number 173 - also secured his place in the next round with an unexpected victory over Pablo Andujar. He will be joined by fellow Brit Elena Baltacha in round two, but there was no place for Laura Robson.

11.04Tsonga overcame a spirited Lleyton Hewitt on Court One to secure his spot in the next round. The Frenchman seemed untroubled by a recent knee injury that he picked up at Queen's to make sure there were no Australian tennis players in the second round of the men's draw for the first time since 1938.

11.02However, it wasn't quite as straightforward for Nadal. The Spaniard found himself 4-0 down in the opening set after a shaky start, but we should never have doubted him. The world number two rallied his way back into the first set - before claiming the next two in the usual fashion.

11.00As mentioned, Murray secured his spot in the second round with a comfortable three set victory over Nicolay Davydenko yesterday. The world number four was in magnificent form on Centre Court, and made light work of the former world number three who never really got going.
