Harry Redknapp reportedly saw an approach to bring Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe to Queens Park Rangers on a 28-day loan rejected.
The Hoops boss, who has previously managed Defoe at West Ham United, and signed him for Portsmouth and Spurs, expressed an interest earlier in the transfer window of linking up with him again at Loftus Road.
The England international, who has made only two Premier League starts this term, has since agreed to join MLS side Toronto FC at the end of February and is scheduled to stay at White Hart Lane until then.
However, Sky Sports News has claimed that Redknapp still attempted to recruit the 31-year-old for the remainder of his stay in England, a request that was turned down by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
QPR are close to signing Modibo Maiga on a loan deal from West Ham United.
