Neither Real Madrid nor AC Milan were able to find the net in a first half of few chances in the International Champions Cup this evening.

The best opportunity of the half in Shanghai arrived early on when Milan's Luca Antonelli weaved his way into the area before his goalbound shot was blocked at the last second by Madrid defender Rafael Varane.

Madrid, who won the Australian leg of the ICC earlier this month, were struggling to keep possession early on, but their stars began to see more of the ball as the half wore on.

The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale tried to spark something for the Spanish outfit, but Milan were proving stubborn and offering few chances to shoot at goal.

Karim Benzema had Los Blancos' best chance of the half when he headed wide of the target from Danilo's cross.
