Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini is likely to miss the club's Premier League opener against Manchester United on Monday.
The 24-year-old missed Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Malaga after suffering a groin injury shortly before kickoff at La Rosaleda.
He will now undergo intensive treatment over the next few days in a bid to be fit for the game at Goodison Park.
Fellaini made 34 Premier League appearances last season, scoring three goals.
