Harry Redknapp is now aiming for a fifth place finish after last night's defeat at Man City.
Spurs are now sixth in the table on 56 points, two behind Liverpool with two games to play. Man City assured themselves a place in the Champions League last night with a 1-0 victory at Eastlands.
"The players are disappointed, they all thought we deserved something," Redknapp told reporters afterwards. "I thought we controlled the game for long periods. For an away team we had a lot of the ball and played ever so well again.
"I'm delighted with the players. We played some great football against a top, top team. I couldn't have asked for more."
Spurs travel to Anfield for a showdown with their rivals this Sunday, then host Birmingham in the final game of the season a week later.
"We have to try and win at Liverpool and if we play how we played against City we'll have a great chance," Redknapp added. "We'll go to Liverpool and try to win and then try to beat Birmingham. Two wins and we'll finish above Liverpool. That's what we need to do.
"It's been a great season. Anyone who hasn't enjoyed watching Tottenham play this season can't enjoy watching football. We've played some fantastic football, had some great games and we've been a pleasure to watch."
