Joe Hart backs Raheem Sterling to shine at Euro 2016

England goalkeeper Joe Hart backs Manchester City teammate Raheem Sterling to get back to his best at Euro 2016 this summer.

England goalkeeper Joe Hart has backed Manchester City teammate Raheem Sterling to show his quality at Euro 2016 this summer.

Sterling endured a difficult debut season with City following his £50m move from Liverpool, making just 23 Premier League starts and scoring only six goals.

However, the 21-year-old had bright moments during England's 2-1 victory over Turkey on Sunday, and Hart believes that is a good sign ahead of this summer's tournament.

"He got kicked to pieces because they couldn't deal with him, simple as that. Maybe in a championship game a few of them would have been walking a lot tighter rope than they were," Hart told reporters.

"He was good, I was excited to see it. It was tough for Raheem towards the end of the season, he wasn't starting games, but that's gone and it's a fresh chapter.

"A fit and firing Raheem Sterling can change games. He's got no point to prove, I see Raheem work every single day trying to improve, he knows he's 21 and he's going to get better."

England will take on Australia on Friday in their final Euro 2016 warm-up game before Roy Hodgson finalises his squad for the tournament.
