Tony Pulis backs Kenny Dalglish over his comments concerning the FA.

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has backed Kenny Dalglish's comments concerning the decision to appeal Wayne Rooney's three-match ban at Euro 2012.

Dalglish said that the appeal sets a bad standard because it contradicts the FA's own disciplinary system, after the Manchester United striker had his ban reduced to two games on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Pulis agrees that the FA would have taken a different stance had the incident occurred in the Premier League.

"I totally agree with [Dalglish]," said Pulis. "It is not as if it was a 50-50 challenge or it was mistimed, [Rooney] actually booted someone from behind.

"It would be interesting to see if a player from an English club actually went and appealed on a similar incident what the FA would have done – I think that is the point Kenny is trying to make.

"I don't think it would have been rescinded."

The Potters will look to move up the table when Tottenham travel to the Britannia Stadium this weekend.
