Toby Alderweireld warns Thibaut Courtois about returning to Chelsea

Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld advises his teammate Thibaut Courtois to leave his parent club Chelsea on a permanent basis.

Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld believes that Thibaut Courtois could suffer if the Belgian goalkeeper returns to his parent club Chelsea.

Courtois, who is widely regarded as one of the best young goalkeepers in world football, is currently in his third season on loan with Atletico.

As it stands, the 21-year-old will return to Chelsea in the summer to battle Petr Cech for the gloves, but Alderweireld has advised his teammate to join a club where he would be guaranteed the number one position.

"He is very smart and I think it would be a good choice for him to maybe stay with Atletico, or go to another club where he will be number one," Alderweireld told Sky Sports News.

"He does not want to sit on the bench for eight games then play for one. I don't think he has a weak point and I think he can be the best keeper in the world. He is good with the ball, he is good with his feet and he is great on his line.

"I see him in training every day and I see him in games and I doubt there are any keepers better than him."

Courtois has also been linked with a move to Barcelona.
