Manchester City have reportedly been denied the chance to sign Barcelona midfielder Pedri, with the champions looking to replace the outgoing Kevin De Bruyne.

The Sky Blues will take on fierce rivals Manchester United on Sunday in the Premier League at Old Trafford, and they will be looking to avenge their bizarre 2-1 defeat in the reverse fixture in December.

However, City come into the clash in the midst of a battle for Champions League football, with the club residing in fifth place with 51 points, 22 points behind first-placed Liverpool.

Fans were also dealt a blow this past week when legendary midfielder De Bruyne announced that he would be leaving City upon the expiry of his contract in the summer.

Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly agreed to join Arsenal in the summer transfer window, with the Londoners having jumped ahead of Manchester United in the race for his signature.

The Gunners were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Everton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, with the result leaving them 11 points behind league-leaders Liverpool despite having played an additional game.

Fans are resigned to the fact that the club look destined to finish second for a third consecutive season, but they are also keen for Mikel Arteta to be provided with reinforcements in the summer.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, but the Toon are likely to demand a fee close to £150m.

Reds identify 'Isak alternative' as Slot looks to upgrade on Nunez and Jota

Newcastle United's Alexander Isak on January 7, 2025

Liverpool are said to have identified West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen as an alternative to Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

The Reds are set to take on Fulham at Craven Cottage in the Premier League on Sunday, and a victory would mean that Arne Slot's side would need just three more wins to confirm their status as champions.

However, despite the Merseysiders' success this season, there are concerns about the sustainability of their attack, particularly given the likes of Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota have struggled.

While the club have often been linked with a move for Newcastle's Isak as a means of upgrading in attack, the Swede reportedly has an asking price significantly in excess of £100m.

Arsenal need "two strikers" this summer, and here's why Delap should be one

Ray Parlour/Liam Delap composite

Arsenal should consider bringing in Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap as one of two possible centre-forward options in the summer transfer window, Gunners legend Ray Parlour believes.

Delap was on target for the 11th time in the 2024-25 Premier League season on Saturday, but his opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers was inconsequential as Kieran McKenna's side fell to an agonising 2-1 defeat.

Ipswich's latest loss has pushed them to the brink of demotion back down to the Championship, as the 18th-placed Tractor Boys now sit 12 points adrift of safety with just seven games left to play.

The East Anglian outfit's likely demotion will make it extremely difficult for the club to keep hold of the in-demand Delap, who is thought to have attracted glances from the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea ahead of a potential bidding war.

"Sceptical about Frimpong": Transfer replacement for Alexander-Arnold assessed

Liverpool's reported interest in Bayer Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong may not materialise into a switch to Anfield, Reds transfer expert David Lynch has claimed.

Trent Alexander-Arnold looks certain to leave Merseyside upon the expiry of his contract in the summer amidst interest from Real Madrid, and fans have speculated that the club could look to bring in a direct replacement for the right-back.

Leverkusen's Frimpong has often been linked to Liverpool, with the wing-back scoring 22 league goals and providing 25 assists in the Bundesliga in 127 appearances for his current side.

However, Lynch tempered expectations in regard to a potential deal, citing concerns about his stylistic fit for Liverpool when he told Sports Mole: "I'm slightly sceptical about Frimpong. He's a right wing-back who is very much in the winger mould, not a traditional right-back in any sense, and Liverpool do use a back four.

Arsenal-linked attacker Nico Williams is reportedly expected to hold contract talks with Athletic Bilbao.

Barcelona were interested in signing Williams last summer after he played an important role in Spain's triumph at Euro 2024.

However, concerns about Barcelona's ability to register players contributed to Williams' decision to stay put for the 2024-25 campaign.

The winger is currently focused on helping Athletic achieve Champions League qualification as well as their goal of going all the way in the Europa League, with Los Leones dreaming of playing in a European final at their home stadium of San Mames.

Salah succession plan in danger as Prem duo enter race for £25m 'bargain'

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly entered the running to sign Lyon protege Rayan Cherki, who has also caught the eye of Premier League leaders Liverpool.

The 21-year-old has been considered one of the gems in the Gones crown ever since making his debut at the age of 16, and he has already produced 25 goals and 42 assists in 176 appearances for the French giants.

Cherki has enjoyed his most productive campaign to date this term with eight goals and a staggering 18 assists in 35 matches, but Lyon were rocked by a provisional relegation to Ligue 2 earlier this season for financial problems.

The seven-time Ligue 1 champions will likely be forced to sell off some of their prized assets to raise the funds required to avoid demotion, and the 2003-born Cherki certainly fits into that category.

'Surprise' Sancho interest could lead to sensational Man Utd swap deal

Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho - currently on loan at Chelsea - has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for a surprise Premier League team this summer.

The former Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City starlet joined the Blues on a temporary deal in January, with an obligation to make the move permanent for around £25m if certain conditions are met.

However, Sancho has failed to cut the mustard under Enzo Maresca in recent weeks, and it has been claimed that a loophole in the terms of his agreement could see Chelsea back out of signing him permanently.

Rather than fork out the £25m to keep Sancho, Chelsea could apparently decide to pay Man United a 'penalty fee' to send the Englishman back to Old Trafford, where his contract only runs until the end of next season.
