Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is reportedly intent on taking the club to court for the rest of his salary, which could cost the Blues as much as £20m.

Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is reportedly intent on taking the club to court for the rest of his salary.

Conte was sacked by the Blues during the summer following a lengthy negotiation process regarding compensation, and the Italian is refusing to back down in the ongoing row.

Chelsea are keen to set up face-to-face talks in order to discuss the possibility of an out-of-court agreement, but Sky Sports News reports that Conte is refusing to attend the meetings.

The 49-year-old believes that he should be paid what he is contractually owed, with reports suggesting the figure could be as high as £20m - £11.3m for his remaining year's salary and a further £8.7m in damages.

Conte's lawyers have been working on two separate cases regarding the disagreement - one for an employment tribunal and another for the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are understood to be refusing to pay the full amount due to Conte's behaviour at the club, including his failure to turn up to sponsorship events, his treatment of Diego Costa, late arrival to press conferences and even parking in the wrong space at their training ground.

Conte, who reportedly turned down the Real Madrid job recently, won the Premier League and the FA Cup during his two years at Stamford Bridge.
