Garnacho publicly voiced his displeasure at only being given 20 minutes in the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last Wednesday, stirring up rumours that he will leave the club in the summer.

Post-match, the winger told the press: "Up until the final, I played every round helping the team, and today I play 20 minutes, I don't know."

"The [Europa League] final will influence [my decision], but the whole season, the situation of the club [will too], I'm going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens afterwards."

The finer details regarding the finances of Matheus Cunha's impending move to Manchester United have reportedly been agreed between the Red Devils and his parent club Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Speculation has been rife for many months that Cunha will be moving to Old Trafford this summer, and the Brazilian is set to become Ruben Amorim's first high-profile signing at the club.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed another excellent season at Molineux, hitting 17 goals in all competitions for Wolves, following on from the 14 he managed during 2023-24.

Missing out on European football does mean Man United may have to be slightly cautious with their pursestrings this summer, though, and they have been unable to lowball Wolves into accepting a more favourable arrangement for themselves.

Meanwhile, backup goalkeeper Stefan Ortega does not appear to be viewed as a long-term option between the sticks and is understood to have caught the attention of clubs in his native Germany, including Bayer Leverkusen.

As a result, offers are expected to be presented to the Yorkshire outfit in due course and they face a battle to restrict the upheaval to their squad.

Man United have decided to activate Cunha's £62.5m release clause and the full fee is set to be paid in three instalments during a two-year period, while the player himself is said to have agreed a five-year contract at Old Trafford until 2030, with an option until the summer of 2031.

Bayern Munich have reportedly identified a Liverpool attacker as a potential summer transfer target.

The Bundesliga champions have recently been in the hunt for Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, rivalling at least two Premier League sides in the race for his signature.

However, it has since become apparent that Liverpool are the clear favourites to eventually get a deal for the Germany international over the line.

Wirtz is expected to complement several of the attackers already available to Arne Slot at Anfield, yet it is highly likely that at least one of the current contingent in the final third will leave Merseyside.

Manchester United are glad to see the back of a disastrous 2024-25 campaign and an important summer transfer window awaits head coach Ruben Amorim, as he endeavours to bring back the glory days to Old Trafford.

It has been reported that the Red Devils' spending power might be heavily restricted as they will only have a budget of around £100m without player sales.

Despite that, Man United are understood to have reached a full verbal agreement to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha and have decided to activate the 26-year-old's £62.5m release clause.

The Red Devils will pay the full fee in three instalments over a two-year period, while Cunha is said to have given the green light to sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford until 2030, with an option until the summer of 2031.

"We can control the squad better": Amorim makes Man United transfer plan claim

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim on April 17, 2025
© Iconsport

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has suggested that he is taking the positives from the club missing out on Champions League football.

Having produced their worst-ever Premier League campaign, it has long been known that United would need to win silverware to keep European football on their calendar for 2025-26.

Defeat in last week's Europa League final meant that the Red Devils would not be competing on the continent next season, something that will also drastically reduce the transfer funds available to the Portuguese.

Reports maintain that Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha is on the brink of completing a move from Molineux to Old Trafford.

Celtic have reportedly joined Leicester City in the race for Crystal Palace defender Jeffrey Schlupp.

The 32-year-old is currently on loan at the Scottish giants, who lost the Scottish Cup final to Aberdeen on penalties at Hampden Park on Saturday afternoon.

Schlupp spent the second half of the 2024-25 campaign at Celtic Park after struggling for opportunities at the base of Crystal Palace under Oliver Glasner.

Tierney was Arsenal's "beacon of light", but a new deal was "never going to happen"

Charles Watts/Kieran Tierney composite

Departing Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney would have been able to offer something to Mikel Arteta next season, but it would have been too difficult trying to convince the Scotsman to stay, Charles Watts believes.

The 27-year-old marked his final Gunners appearance with the opening goal in Sunday's 2-1 win over Southampton, his last contribution before he returns to Celtic on a free transfer this summer.

Celtic confirmed in their January financial accounts that an agreement had been reached to re-sign their former academy graduate, who is one of the last few survivors of the Unai Emery era at Arsenal.

Tierney unexpectedly forced his way back into Arteta's ranks this season after a loan at Real Sociedad and serious hamstring injury at Euro 2024, but when asked by Sports Mole whether there was the argument to keep him, Watts insisted that his Emirates chapter was closed.

As per widespread reports, United are closing in on a £62.5m deal to sign Matheus Cunha from the West Midlands outfit as they bid to strengthen in attack.

However, having missed out on Champions League qualification, Ruben Amorim will not be in a position to attract many - if any - other players in that price bracket.

Therefore, as well as generating funds through player sales such as involving Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford, United will also have to look for value-for-money deals.
