Luke Chambers slams 'disrespectful' Leeds United manager Steve Evans

Ipswich Town captain Luke Chambers says that he has lost some respect for Leeds United manager Steve Evans after the Scot's post-match comments on Tuesday.

Ipswich Town captain Luke Chambers has described the comments made by Leeds United manager Steve Evans after Tuesday night's Championship match as "staggering".

Evans claimed that Leeds did not deserve to lose 2-1 at Portman Road, despite the fact that Ipswich dominated both the possession and shot counts after falling behind inside 20 seconds.

Chambers, who scored Ipswich's equaliser before they sealed the win late on through Brett Pitman, said that he had lost some respect for the Scot after hearing of his comments.

"I don't know whether he's addressing the Leeds supporters who weren't at the game to try and save face but I've no idea where he's coming from," Chambers told the Ipswich website.

"Yes they look the lead and had a good 10-15 minute spell, but after that it was one-way traffic. For him to then disrespect us as a team and say that if we are the benchmark for sixth place then he will take that, is honestly quite staggering.

"At the end of the day, we've walked away with six points off them this season and we are the ones who are in the playoff places fighting to get into the Premier League. I had a lot of respect for him before the game but I've lost some of that now."

Ipswich are fifth in the Championship, 12 points better off than 15th-placed Leeds.
