Paul Scharner starts for Wigan in their home match against Southampton after returning to the club on loan from Hamburg.

Paul Scharner will make his second Wigan Athletic debut in their Premier League clash with Southampton at the DW Stadium this afternoon.

The Austrian, who spent five years with the Lancashire outfit between 2005 and 2010, has returned to the Latics on loan from Hamburg.

Another January arrival, Roger Espinoza, is also handed a start by Wigan boss Roberto Martinez, who has made two changes to the XI that came from behind to draw at Stoke City.

Ronnie Stam has replaced Emerson Boyce at right-back, while defender Roman Golobart has dropped out to make way for Scharner.

New Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino has kept faith with the side that pushed Manchester United all the way at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

That means Jay Rodriguez, a goalscorer against the Red Devils, will partner Rickie Lambert up front and impressive youngster Luke Shaw continues at left-back.
