Everton legend Duncan Ferguson is reportedly keen to replace Carlo Ancelotti as the new Toffees manager, with Nuno Espirito Santo and David Moyes also in the frame.

Everton legend Duncan Ferguson has reportedly told the club that he wants to succeed Carlo Ancelotti, who recently left Goodison Park for Real Madrid.

Ferguson enjoyed a short spell as Toffees caretaker manager following the sacking of Marco Silva in December 2019, before Ancelotti arrived on Merseyside later that month.

Ancelotti's departure from Everton to replace Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid has left the Toffees without a manager in the early weeks of the summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Ferguson is among many other candidates who have enquired about the vacant managerial role, as sporting director Marcel Brands is set to thoroughly consider a number of potential managers and therefore an announcement is unlikely to be imminent.

Nuno Espirito Santo, who has been heavily linked with the Crystal Palace job, and former Everton boss David Moyes are also in contention to be the next manager at Goodison Park.

Under Ancelotti, Everton enjoyed a good first half of the 2020-21 campaign as they sat second on Boxing Day, but the club ended up finishing 10th after a drop off in form after the turn of the year.
