Manchester United reject the opportunity to sign Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina on a permanent basis, according to a report.

Manchester United have reportedly rejected the opportunity to sign Sofyan Amrabat on a permanent basis during this summer's transfer window.

The Morcoco international made the move to Old Trafford on loan from Fiorentina last summer, and he has represented the Red Devils on 25 occasions during the 2023-24 campaign.

Amrabat has featured 17 times in the Premier League, while he represented the club in five of their six matches in the group stage of the Champions League.

The 27-year-old has largely struggled to hold down a regular spot, though, with his last Premier League start coming against Liverpool in the middle of December.

Amrabat has played just 21 minutes of football in the team's last six league matches, with Kobbie Mainoo's emergence making it difficult for him to secure starts.

Man United 'not planning to sign Amrabat on a permanent basis'

Man United are believed to have the option to sign Amrabat on a permanent basis for £21m this summer, but according to TuttoMercatoWeb, he will be heading back to his parent club.

The report claims that the 20-time English champions have decided against a long-term move for the midfielder, who has struggled to adapt to the pace of the Premier League.

Fiorentina are allegedly not planning to keep him, though, with the midfielder set to move on this summer, with the Italian outfit believed to prepared to let him leave for around £13m.

Juventus and AC Milan are both thought to be keen on Amrabat, with a move elsewhere in Italy believed to be an option for the Moroccan in the upcoming market.

How has Amrabat performed at Man United?

Man United spent much of last summer being linked with Amrabat, but they only got a deal over the line in the closing stages of the transfer window.

There were eyebrows raised when it was announced as a loan deal, but it was fully expected to be made permanent at the end of the season.

Amrabat's performances for Morocco at the 2022 World Cup had led to a host of speculation surrounding his future, but it has been tough for him at Man United.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen could both move on this summer, but Amrabat has not done enough to convince the Red Devils that he should stick around on a long-term basis.

Amrabat was a regular starter in the first half of the campaign, but his performances were mixed, and he has struggled to have an impact in 2024, so it is not a surprise that Man United are allegedly not planning to bring him in permanently despite his affordable price tag.
