Tottenham Hotspur bidding to achieve winning feat for first time in 60 years

Tottenham Hotspur are aiming to become the first team since Liverpool in 2008-09 to win away at both Manchester clubs in a top-flight season when they face Man City.

Tottenham Hotspur could become the first team in 12 years to beat both Manchester clubs away from home in a top-flight season when they take on Manchester City on Saturday.

Jose Mourinho has already witnessed his side get the better of Pep Guardiola's men in the capital this season, and they also thrashed Manchester United 6-1 at Old Trafford earlier in the campaign.

Should Tottenham defy the odds and prevail on the Etihad turf, it will mark the first time since the 2008-09 campaign that a team has beaten both Manchester clubs away from home in the league - a feat which was last achieved by Liverpool.

Spurs last did so in the 1959-60 season, but they are now facing a Man City side who have won 15 in a row across all competitions, and Tottenham are winless in 24 matches away from home against the team topping the table at the start of the day.

The Lilywhites - who sit eighth in the Premier League table - begin the day 14 points adrift of their runaway opponents, who will be aiming to keep seven clean sheets in a row at home for the first time since 1947.

Mourinho could also become the first manager to win three away games against a team managed by Guardiola, having done so with Real Madrid and Manchester United in 2012 and 2018 respectively.
