Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Burnley

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League clash with Burnley on Saturday.

Manchester City will hope to return to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon when they take on Burnley in their first game back since the international break.

Pep Guardiola's side rescued a point in a thrilling 2-2 draw with Liverpool before the break, with Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne netting while Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah struck for the hosts.

The reigning champions now find themselves third in the rankings after seven matches, but Guardiola is set to be one of many coaches impacted by the unforgiving schedule.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Man City's injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

Ferran Torres

Status: Out
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: Unknown

City have confirmed that Ferran Torres suffered a small foot fracture while representing Spain during the international break, and the attacker will spend some time on the sidelines.

Ilkay Gundogan

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: October 16 (vs. Burnley)

Ilkay Gundogan was not fit to face Liverpool after picking up a thigh problem against Southampton last month, but Guardiola hopes to have him available for this contest.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: October 16 (vs. Burnley)

Guardiola also affirmed that he is hopeful over Oleksandr Zinchenko's fitness for this game, with the Ukrainian left-back missing his side's last three Premier League games with a calf issue.

Ederson

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Other
Possible return date: October 16 (vs. Burnley)

Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson will not return from international duty until the day before the Burnley clash at the earliest, and the shot-stopper is therefore highly unlikely to be ready for domestic action.

Gabriel Jesus

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Other
Possible return date: October 16 (vs. Burnley)

Similarly, Gabriel Jesus is due to finish October's games with Brazil in the early hours of Friday morning UK time, and the striker is expected to miss out at the weekend.

MAN CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Benjamin Mendy

Subject to a police charge, Benjamin Mendy has been suspended by Man City pending an investigation, meaning that the defender will be unavailable for the foreseeable future.
