Seventh-seed Janko Tipsarevic advances to the second round of the men's singles at London 2012 with a straight sets win over David Nalbandian.

Janko Tipsarevic has progressed to the second round of the men's singles at London 2012 by overcoming David Nalbandian in straight sets.

The Serbian was unhappy with the Wimbledon grass on No. 1 Court from the off as he slipped regularly in the opening game, just managing to hold serve before moving ahead by breaking Nalbandian's service in game four.

Tipsarevic was however unable to maintain this advantage as Nalbandian broke straight back before again losing his own serve to throw away the break-back.

Tipsarevic this time didn't waste the lead and went on to take the opening set 6-3 in 34 minutes.

After both men held serve in their opening games of the second it was again Nalbandian who faltered, handing Tipsarevic the advantage in the set.

The seventh seed's backhand was on song as he stroked his way to a clear lead in the second before requesting the services of the trainer during the change of ends at 3-2.

The match resumed and Tipsarevic's consistency was too much for former Wimbledon finalist Nalbandian, whose regular unforced errors provided little resistance as the Serb ran out 6-3 6-4 winner.

The 28-year-old will face Germany's Philipp Petzschner in the second round at SW19.
