West Bromwich Albion late show stuns Hull City

Gareth McAuley and Saido Berahino score two late goals to help West Brom earn a dramatic 3-2 League Cup win over Hull City.

West Bromwich Albion scored twice in the final two minutes to beat Hull City 3-2 in a dramatic third-round League Cup clash at The Hawthorns this evening.

The Tigers looked on their way to the fourth round after goals from Thomas Ince and Robbie Brady negated Brown Ideye's opener.

However, Gareth McAuley hit an 88th-minute equaliser before Saido Berahino struck again moments later as the Baggies snatched their place in the next round.

Just 15 minutes elapsed before the hosts took the lead, as Ideye tapped home his first goal in English football after Steve Harper saved from Sebastian Blanco.

It was not enough to earn a half-time lead, however, as Ince converted a Brady cross on 41 minutes to restore parity.

Steve Bruce's side retained that momentum after the break and went ahead within five minutes of the restart, with Brady slotting Hatem Ben Arfa's through-ball past Boaz Myhill.

The hosts huffed and puffed but struggled to level matters, until McAuley volleyed home with two minutes remaining as the game looked poised for extra time.

However, Alan Irvine's men capitalised on the punchdrunk state of Hull and struck again a minute later when Berahino rounded Harper to finish into an empty net and seal a memorable comeback.
