Gloucester beat London Irish in a 40-31 thriller at the Madjeski Stadium.

Gloucester ran out 40-31 victors over London Irish in a highly entertaining match at the Madjeski Stadium this afternoon.

London Irish scored the first try of the match as Topsy Ojo latched onto a grubber kick to touch down.

Ben Morgan responded with his first Premiership try for Gloucester, swatting aside Tomas O'Leary to romp home from 15 metres.

Proficient kicking from Gloucester's Freddie Burns gave Gloucester a 16-14 half-time lead.

Irish regained the lead as a Halani Aulika try put them 21-19 up, with Thomas O'Leary adding another to extend the lead to 28-22.

Freddie Burns and Steve Shingler contonued to exchange penalties but two Gloucester tries through James Simpson-Daniel and Akapusi Qera sealed a 40-31 victory for Gloucester.
