Wigan Warriors thrash Warrington Wolves

Wigan Warriors cruise to an emphatic 28-0 win over Warrington Wolves in the Super League Super 8s.

Wigan Warriors have recorded an emphatic 28-0 win over Warrington Wolves in the Super League Super 8s at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

It took the visitors just a couple of minutes to open the scoring as Liam Farrell leapt over following a quick attack for the Warriors, while Warrington struggled to keep possession in the early stages.

Wigan continued to look the more likely at the start of the second half, resulting in two tries for John Bateman before the hour mark.

Warrington fought hard to try to get off the mark inside the final 20 minutes, but that left room for Oliver Gildart to slip through and extend Wigan's lead further, while marking his debut with a try.

The home side forced a penalty inside the final five minutes in a bid to avoid finishing the match with zero, but the Wigan defence held firm.

The result keeps Wigan second in the standings, while Warrington stay sixth.
