Half-Time Report: Blackburn Rovers lead Leeds United after 17th-second goal

Blackburn Rovers score twice within the first six minutes of their Championship clash at Leeds United to take a 2-0 lead into the break.

Two goals within six minutes - the first after just 17 seconds - have given Blackburn Rovers a 2-0 half-time lead at Leeds United in Thursday's Championship clash at Elland Road.

The visitors scored straight from the kickoff as a Chris Taylor cross was misjudged by Sol Bamba, allowing Craig Conway the time and space at the far post to lash the ball low into the bottom corner.

Just five minutes later, Blackburn doubled their lead after Tom Lawrence weaved through the backline and squared for Jordan Rhodes, who turned inside the box and slotted home.

Leeds remained under the cosh until midway through the half when their first sustained spell of possession allowed Lewis Cook to fire from range, but his bouncing effort was comfortably saved by Jason Steele.

From then on, Steve Evans's side gained a hold on the game, twice coming close to getting goals on board through Mirco Antenucci, who volleyed into the side-netting at the far post, and Tom Adeyemi, who smashed a header against the woodwork.

Nevertheless, Rovers were able to ride out the storm and hang on to their two-goal lead until half time.
