Leeds Rhinos win at Wigan Warriors

Leeds Rhinos leapfrog Wigan Warriors in Super League after a comfortable 20-6 win over their rivals.

Leeds Rhinos have leapfrogged Wigan Warriors in Super League this evening after beating their rivals 20-6.

After an even opening 21 minutes in which both sides defended excellently, it was Leeds who took the lead.

Ben Jones-Bishop stole the ball from Blake Green and ran the length of the field to put the visitors ahead, but Kevin Sinfield missed his kick.

The home side equalised just before break thanks to Pat Richards, who picked himself up after going over and kicked Wigan into a half-time lead.

Minutes into the second half Leeds re-took the lead. Carl Ablett went over and Sinfield put his rare miss behind him and added to the score.

The visitors then relied on the video referee for two tries. First Joel Moon was awarded the points after going down in the corner, before a similar incident involving Kallum Watkins was also awarded in Leeds's favour. Sinfield scored the first difficult kick, but could not covert the second.

Wigan defended well in the final few minutes to keep the score as it was, but were ultimately outplayed this evening.
