Rochdale beat Huddersfield Town in seven-goal thriller

Rochdale overcome Huddersfield Town by a 4-3 scoreline in a pre-season friendly.

Rochdale have got the better of Huddersfield Town in a seven-goal thriller at Spotland.

Rochdale took the lead as early as the seventh minute when Calvin Andrew got in front of a defender to head home, before he played his part in a neat move that ended with Lewis Alessandra scoring a second from close range.

However, midway through the first half, Huddersfield pulled a goal back through Nahki Wells, who curled a delightful free kick into the corner.

The home side weren't discouraged though, and on the half-hour mark, Callum Camps drilled a terrific 25-yard strike past Alex Smithies.

The Terriers replied instantly through a simple finish from Sean Scannell, but seven minutes before the break, Camps scored his second from inside the penalty area after being found by Andrew.

Three minutes after the restart, Wells netted his second after cutting inside onto his right-foot before driving the ball past the goalkeeper, and there was every indication that the goal count for the match could reach double figures.

However, substitutions from both sides disrupted the rhythm of an end-to-end game and Rochdale were left to settle for what will go down as a notable win over the Championship club.
