Real Madrid reportedly want a buyback clause inserted in any deal that would see Arsenal target Martin Odegaard leave the club this summer.

Real Madrid reportedly want a buyback clause inserted in any deal that would see midfielder Martin Odegaard leave the club this summer.

The 22-year-old was on loan with Arsenal last season and Mikel Arteta is keen to lure the Norwegian international back to the Emirates.

A permanent exit from the Santiago Bernabeu is expected for Odegaard, as newly-appointed head coach Carlo Ancelotti has told the playmaker that he is not guaranteed regular first-team football.

Odegaard is now considering his options and is open to a return to Arsenal, even though the North London club will not be competing in a major European competition for the first time in 25 years.

According to The Mirror, Real would be willing to accept an offer worth £42.7m, but insist that a future buyback clause must be included as part of the deal.

Odegaard made 20 appearances for the Gunners across all competitions last season, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
