West Ham to ward off Manchester United interest in Tomas Soucek with new deal?

West Ham United are reportedly stepping up their plans to tie down midfielder Tomas Soucek to a new deal, amid interest from Manchester United.

West Ham United are reportedly set to step up their plans to tie down midfielder Tomas Soucek to a new deal, amid interest from a host of elite European clubs including Manchester United.

The Czech star has been instrumental for the Hammers this season, who are having a successful Premier League campaign that sees them challenging for a top-four finish.

Football Insider reports that the 26-year-old has a growing army of admirers and the Red Devils are one of a number of Premier League clubs and top European sides interested in the midfielder's services.

Soucek is not among the highest earners at the London Stadium, with his current contract worth between £40,000-£50,000 a week.

A new deal offered to the midfielder would give him a significant pay rise as well as an extension to his current agreement, which expires in 2024.

Soucek's aerial dominance has seen him score eight league goals for West Ham, more than any other player at the club so far this season.

The Czech Republic international, who has started in all 27 Premier League matches for the Hammers, initially joined the club on loan from Slavia Prague in January of last year, before signing on a permanent deal last summer for a fee worth around £15m.
