Matthijs de Ligt: 'I will cost less than Frenkie de Jong'

Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt is adamant that he has not made a decision on his future after being linked with a number of European heavyweights.

Matthijs de Ligt has insisted that he is still unsure whether he will remain an Ajax player beyond the summer, but says that he expects to cost less than former teammate Frenkie de Jong if he does move on.

The Dutch centre-back is one of the most coveted players on the market after starring for Ajax in the Eredivisie and Champions League this season.

De Jong has also impressed and has earned himself a £65m move to Barcelona, which will officially go through at the end of the campaign.

Amid interest from the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, De Ligt believes that he will eventually leave Amsterdam for a cheaper sum.

"Will I be more expensive than Frenkie? I don't think so, no," he told Ajax's social media channels. "Normally teams spend more money on midfield players than defenders.

"I really don't know [about my future]. It's up to Ajax - it's not something that I decide. We shall see.

"I haven't made a decision yet, so I don't know [if I will stay]. I am only focused on the last games of the season for now. We still have a lot to play for so let's finish this season in a good way."

Ajax face Tottenham Hotspur over two legs for a place in the Champions League final and also remain on course for a domestic double.
