AC Milan have reportedly agreed a deal to sell left-back Theo Hernandez to Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal.

Hernandez has just completed his sixth, and arguably worst, season with the Rossoneri, as the club missed out on European qualification, and look set to lose many of their key players as a result.

The former Real Madrid man was often touted for a big move elsewhere in Europe, especially after being named in Serie A's Team of the Season four years in a row, and in the ESM's Team of the Year in 2023.

However, Foot Mercato now claim that a move to the Middle East is close to completion, with a fee of €30m (£25m) being agreed between the clubs.

Barcelona sporting director Deco has claimed that the club will first focus on the futures of the players currently at the team amid links to Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford and Liverpool forward Luis Diaz.

The Catalan side enjoyed a successful season in Spain, winning a domestic treble while also reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Barca's 2024-25 campaign was spearheaded by forwards Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha, with the latter two both candidates to win the Ballon d'Or.

The Spanish giants have been linked with attacking reinforcements, but sporting director Deco insisted that the club must look to secure the futures of players already at Camp Nou, telling BBC Sport: "We have been focusing on renewing contracts, after that, we'll discuss players to come.

Chelsea have formally announced the signing of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Dario Essugo.

Blues fans spent Monday expecting the newly-crowned Conference League champions to confirm the acquisition of Ipswich Town forward Liam Delap.

Spurs hold 'serious interest' in signing Premier League defender ahead of Blues

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be determined to sign Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite now that they have secured Champions League football.

Despite finishing in 17th place with just 38 points in the 2024-25 Premier League season, Spurs' victory against Manchester United in the Europa League final in May means they have the opportunity to reset having cemented their place in Europe's top club competition.

Tottenham's reset may include parting company with boss Ange Postecoglou, who could be replaced by Brentford manager Thomas Frank if rumours are to be believed.

Regardless of who is in the dugout next term, Spurs will be an attractive destination given they can offer players the opportunity to play in the Champions League.

Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo has decided he wants to join Manchester United, with talks set to open between the two clubs over a potential transfer, according to reports.

United ended their 2024-25 Premier League season disastrously, finishing 15th with just 42 points, the Red Devils' worst placement and points total in the competition's history.

Boss Ruben Amorim has come under severe pressure, especially as his side lost the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur earlier in May, and he will need to start next season positively to avoid further scrutiny.

Amorim has been boosted by the news that his side have agreed a deal to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha, but the Brazilian will need to be one of a number of additions if the club are to get back on track.

"I'm ready": Man City-linked Cherki breaks silence on Lyon future

France's Rayan Cherki on June 2, 2025

Rayan Cherki has delivered a fresh update on his future at Lyon and has responded to speculation linking him with a summer transfer to Manchester City.

Amidst Lyon's well-documented financial concerns, the 21-year-old has entered the final year of his contract at Groupama Stadium and he is expected to leave the club this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain had allegedly agreed a deal with Lyon to sign Cherki last summer, but the attacker was not convinced by a move to the French capital, while Borussia Dortmund were keen to lure him to Germany.

Fulham were another club who reportedly agreed a deal with Lyon to sign Cherki before the start of last season, but an exit failed to materialise and he went on to enjoy a superb 2024-25 campaign for Les Gones, recording 12 goals and 20 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.

"An absolute superstar": Man City-linked Cherki compared to De Bruyne, Hazard, Nasri

SM-EK Cherki composite

Manchester City expert Steven McInerney from Esteemed Kompany believes that "special footballer" Rayan Cherki has the potential to develop into "one of the best in the world" if he joins Pep Guardiola's side this summer.

The 21-year-old is expected to leave Lyon ahead of the new season after enjoying a superb 2024-25 campaign for the Ligue 1 giants, recording 12 goals and 22 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.

With Kevin De Bruyne leaving Man City when his contract expires this summer, Cherki is believed to be one of Guardiola's primary targets for the No.10 position and talks are ongoing over a deal in excess of €30m that could be finalised before the FIFA Club World Cup begins later this month.

Nottingham Forest are reportedly in discussions to sell midfielder Danilo in a £20m deal.

On the back of earning qualification for next season's Europa League, Forest are seemingly ready to be proactive in the hunt for new additions.

In recent days, a report has suggested that the East Midlands outfit are unusually trying to sign three players from the same Brazilian club in Botafogo.

Although the proposed outlay of that triple deal is unclear, Forest would likely have to find a way to recoup some of the money spent on player sales.

Manchester United have reportedly identified Al-Hilal forward Aleksandar Mitrovic as a potential summer transfer target.

The Red Devils have taken a proactive approach to the start of the market by announcing that they have agreed a deal to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Matheus Cunha.

However, with that acquisition costing £62.5m spread across three instalments, it will see United commit heavily to another player who they hope will improve their frontline.

Although Ruben Amorim wants further additions to be made, the general consensus is that sales must be facilitated before there can be more arrivals.

Summer transfer window round-up: Latest news and rumours including O'Riley to Everton

Brighton & Hove Albion's Matt O'Riley on February 1, 2025

Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly happy to let Matt O'Riley make a move away from the club this summer, with Everton believed to be one of those leading the race to sign him.

O'Riley moved to the Amex last summer in a record Scottish transfer of £30m from Celtic, but suffered a long-term injury on his debut against Crawley Town which sidelined him for a number of months.

On his return to full fitness, O'Riley could not nail a permanent spot down in the Brighton side under Fabian Hurzeler, but he did make two significant contributions in their final two league games of the season, scoring at Tottenham Hotspur, and assisting the winner against Liverpool.

However, the club are believed to be happy to move O'Riley on, with Sky Sports News claiming Everton are interested in the player, but they are facing stiff competition from multiple clubs across Europe for the Dane's signature.

"No time like the present": Man City learning from "very obvious" transfer "mistakes"

SM-EK Khaldoon composite

Manchester City expert Steven McInerney from Esteemed Kompany believes that the club's transfer intentions for the summer are "very clear" after 'very obvious mistakes' were made prior to the start of last season.

After winning an unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title last season, the Citizens only made two signings in the summer of 2024 in the form of Ilkay Gundogan and Savinho - the former returned on a free transfer from Barcelona while the latter joined from Troyes for an initial £21m.

Meanwhile, Julian Alvarez was sold for a club-record fee to Atletico Madrid and Man City were unable to sign a suitable replacement, leaving them short in the attacking department.

Summer transfer window 2025: Best free agents - from De Bruyne to Ronaldo

Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne on May 20, 2025
© Imago

Another summer brings another frantic period of player trading, and many big-name stars have long been linked with a change of scenery. Naturally, most eye-catching of all are the deals that hit eight or even nine figures (i.e. Florian Wirtz), but players can also switch clubs by alternative means. Largely thanks to the Bosman ruling, they become free agents at the expiration of their contract, enabling them to sign for a new side without currency changing hands - albeit, they may receive a hefty signing-on fee. Most Premier League deals ran until 30 June, including that of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was set to leave Liverpool as a free agent before Real Madrid's impatience saw cold, hard cash laid down. Like Bayern Munich new boy Jonathan Tah, the maverick full-back has already signed up for a fresh challenge, but who are the most coveted players still available? Here, Sports Mole looks at some of the best and considers where they could go, while rounding up those that have chosen to stay.

Partey contract stance becomes clear as Arsenal man 'in talks' with Spanish giants

Arsenal's Thomas Partey pictured on September 22, 2024

Barcelona have reportedly started discussions to sign Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey on a free transfer after the Ghanaian made his contract demands to the Gunners clear. As it stands, the 31-year-old will become a free agent at the end of the month, although talks over a new deal with the North London giants are believed to be ongoing. Partey's first couple of years in North London were blighted by injuries, but the ex-Atletico Madrid man has largely banished his fitness woes to become a key part of Mikel Arteta's team. The midfielder played 52 times in all competitions in the 2024-25 season, contributing four goals and three assists and earning high acclaim for his displays at the base of the midfield. However, no agreement over a new deal has been reached with his representatives, leaving Arsenal at risk of losing their £42.5m man for nothing in just a few weeks' time.

Partey's 'ideal' outcome revealed as Barcelona talks begin

Arsenal's Thomas Partey pictured on April 8, 2025© Imago

According to The Sun, Barcelona are aiming to take advantage of the situation and have opened negotiations with Partey's entourage over a possible free transfer ahead of the 2025-26 season. Talks with Arsenal over a renewal have been described as 'complex' and 'slow-moving', and both Barca and Partey's former club Atletico are casting a watchful eye over developments. The report adds that the 31-year-old would 'ideally' like to remain at the Emirates Stadium, as he and his family are settled in the English capital, but he is not prepared to take a significant pay cut. As Partey turns 32 later this month, he is under no illusions that he may only have one big contract left and thus wants any new deal to reflect his standing as one of Arteta's most dependable performers in the 2024-25 season. Partey has contributed a total of nine goals and seven assists in 167 appearances for Arsenal since joining in 2020, and Arteta has publicly stated that he wants to keep the Ghana international at the club.

Osimhen holds the key as 'official offer' prepared for shock Nkunku move

Christopher Nkunku celebrates scoring for Chelsea on September 14, 2024
© Imago

Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku has apparently emerged as a surprise target for Turkish outfit Galatasaray, who are planning for life without Victor Osimhen. Napoli-owned striker Osimhen was memorably at the centre of an incredible deadline-day saga last summer, when a proposed move to Saudi Arabia or Chelsea fell through. The Nigerian was subsequently facing a few months on the Napoli sidelines, having been frozen out by Antonio Conte, but he was offered a late escape route by Galatasaray. Osimhen continued to make nets bulge for fun in Turkey, coming up with 37 strikes and eight assists from 41 appearances across all competitions as his side won the Super Lig title. The 26-year-old's loan deal will officially come to an end later this month, but Galatasaray have apparently not given up hope of keeping him at the club permanently.

Galatasaray 'identify Nkunku' as Osimhen replacement

Nevertheless, Fanatik claims that the Turkish giants are making contingency plans in case Osimhen does head back to Napoli, and Chelsea's Nkunku is firmly on their radar. The France international has only been a bit-part player for the Blues since joining in the summer of 2023, starting just nine Premier League matches in the 2024-25 campaign. Nkunku did play a key role in Chelsea's run to Conference League glory with five goals and three assists from nine appearances in the competition, but he has managed just six goals in 38 Premier League outings. As a result, his exit from Stamford Bridge is seen as inevitable, and the report adds that Galatasaray are soon expected to make an official bid for the 27-year-old, whom they have identified as an ideal fit for their fast-paced style of play. Nkunku's Chelsea contract runs for another four years, as he signed a six-season agreement when he joined, but the West London club are not expected to stand in his way of a departure if the right offer comes in. The attacker has amassed a total of 17 goals and five assists in 56 appearances for the Conference League champions, who forked out £50.6m to sign him from German giants RB Leipzig. A move back to the Bundesliga has also been mooted for Nkunku, while a surprise Premier League team is understood to have made an enquiry for the 27-year-old also.

Leverkusen 'reject' Liverpool's two Wirtz bids, but all is not lost

Liverpool have reportedly suffered a couple of setbacks in their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz, as their opening two offers for the 22-year-old have been rejected. Arne Slot's Premier League champions have emerged as the frontrunners to capture the Germany international ahead of the 2025-26 season and were reported to have made a club-record bid last week. Liverpool are prepared to make Wirtz their most expensive signing of all time, and the player himself is believed to be keen to move to Anfield either in the current window - which runs until June 10 - or the second transfer period, which opens on June 16. However, there are still a couple more hurdles to clear before the former FC Koln starlet can link up with the Reds' squad, as Kicker reports that Leverkusen have turned down Liverpool's first two proposals. The English champions' opening proposal was believed to be a fixed fee of £84.3m, potentially rising to £96.9m with add-ons, but it quickly became clear that they would need to go into the three figures.

Liverpool then came forward with a revised offer totalling £109.5m, made up of a £99.4m sum plus £10.1m in performance-related bonuses, but Leverkusen still want to garner at least £126.4m. Nevertheless, there is still optimism on Liverpool's side that Wirtz will soon become a Reds player, and they are expected to hold a new round of discussions with the German giants later this week. The 22-year-old continued to go from strength to strength last season with 16 goals and 15 assists from 45 matches across all competitions, having become a Bundesliga Invincible in the previous campaign. Manchester City were rumoured to have been pursuing Wirtz as an ideal replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, but the Sky Blues withdrew their interest due to the cost of a deal. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich also supposedly wanted to bring the playmaker to the Allianz Arena as they prepare to lose Thomas Muller, but they have been informed that the player's priority is Liverpool.
