Gus Poyet has described a penalty that was awarded against Sunderland in their 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion in their opening Premier League match as "soft".
The Black Cats took the lead in the first half, but Saido Berahino got the Baggies back on level terms after Victor Anichebe was brought down in the box.
After the match, he told Sky Sports News: "With that incident I was quite disappointed. I was not expecting to have the opportunity to come here and even have to try to talk about a referee decision in the Premier League. I mean, it's so simple. I don't even need to comment, it's not worth it.
"Soft. We are not playing in this football to give soft decisions. I don't know what happened after that decision to stop the game. You need to ask them, but it's not the way I wanted to start the league, talking about referees again. I wanted to talk about football."
Lee Cattermole and Sebastian Larsson were both on the scoresheet for Poyet's side.
