Manchester United 'identify Julian Nagelsmann as potential Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replacement'

Manchester United reportedly identify RB Leipzig head coach Julian Naglesmann as a potential replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Manchester United have reportedly identified RB Leipzig head coach Julian Nagelsmann as a potential replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should the Norwegian be relieved of his duties.

The Red Devils are allegedly still behind Solskjaer despite the team's indifferent form this season, although a recent report claimed that Mauricio Pochettino had already been contacted over a move to Old Trafford.

According to ESPN, former Tottenham Hotspur manager Pochettino would be under consideration for the position if there was a change, but Nagelsmann is also viewed as a candidate for the position by senior figures at United.

The 33-year-old saw his Leipzig team suffer a 5-0 defeat at Old Trafford in the Champions League last week, but he has impressed many with his work at Hoffenheim and the Red Bulls, leading the latter to the European Cup semi-finals last term.

Nagelsmann was the youngest manager in Bundesliga history when he took the Hoffenheim job in 2015 at the age of 28, having been forced to retire as a player due to a series of knee issues.

United, who are currently 15th in the Premier League table, will be looking to avoid a third straight defeat in all competitions when they travel to Goodison Park to face Everton on Saturday afternoon.
