Manchester United's Marcus Rashford declares himself "fully free" from injury as he closes in on a return to action following shoulder surgery.

Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford has affirmed that he is "fully free" of injury after a long rehabilitation process.

Having undergone surgery on a shoulder issue earlier in the summer, Rashford is still waiting for his first appearance of the 2021-22 season after turning out five times for England at Euro 2020.

However, Rashford recently scored twice in a friendly against Blackburn Rovers last week, and the 23-year-old believes that he is now in a "much better place".

Speaking to BBC Sport, Rashford said: "My recovery is - I wouldn't say coming to an end because obviously I have to keep looking after it - but I'm in a much better place physically and mentally.

"Last year was a very long season for me, I got this injury at the end of September and gradually it got that little bit worse. But now I'm fully free of that, I feel much better physically and mentally."

Rashford boasts 88 goals and 56 assists from 271 games in a United shirt and is expected to be in contention to feature in Saturday's clash with Leicester City.
