Gabriel Martinelli in line for Arsenal first-team return?

Arsenal starlet Gabriel Martinelli could potentially be in line for a return to the first team after not playing in the Under-23 team's win over Leicester City on Friday.

Arsenal have dropped a major hint that Gabriel Martinelli could make his return to the first team for Saturday's Premier League showdown with Everton.

The Brazilian starlet has not played for Mikel Arteta's men since the back end of last season, with Martinelli undergoing surgery on a serious knee injury over the summer.

However, the former Ituano man has been working his way back to fitness and recently turned out for the Under-23s team against Wimbledon, with Martinelli playing 45 minutes of that EFL Trophy defeat last week.

Martinelli was expected to be involved in the youth team's game with Leicester City on Friday night, but the teenager was nowhere to be seen in the squad.

As a result, The Mirror speculates that Martinelli could therefore be named among the substitutes at Goodison Park this weekend, with the Arsenal fan favourite potentially coming back at a time where Arteta's men just cannot seem to find the back of the net.

Martinelli struck 10 times and provided four assists for the Gunners in all competitions during his breakthrough 2019-20 campaign.
